Designing and Building with UHPFRC

Designing and Building with UHPFRC PDF Author: Jacques Resplendino
Publisher: John Wiley & Sons
ISBN: 1118587553
Category : Technology & Engineering
Languages : en
Pages : 678

Book Description
This book contains the proceedings of the international workshop “Designing and Building with Ultra-High Performance Fibre-Reinforced Concrete (UHPFRC): State of the Art and Development”, organized by AFGC, the French Association for Civil Engineering and French branch of fib, in Marseille (France), November 17-18, 2009. This workshop was focused on the experience of a lot of recent UHPFRC realizations. Through more than 50 papers, this book details the experience of many countries in UHPFRC construction and design, including projects from Japan, Germany, Australia, Austria, USA, Denmark, the Netherlands, Canada... and France. The projects are categorized as novel architectural solutions, new frontiers for bridges, new equipments and structural components, and extending the service life of structures. The last part presents major research results, durability and sustainability aspects, and the updated AFGC Recommendations on UHPFRC.

Dictionary of Civil Engineering

Dictionary of Civil Engineering PDF Author: Jean-Paul Kurtz
Publisher: Springer Science & Business Media
ISBN: 0306484749
Category : Technology & Engineering
Languages : en
Pages : 1520

Book Description
I am pleased to present a work which marks a milestone in the history of public works and, more precisely, in that of permanent structures—a comprehensive dictionary of Civil Engineering terms. Since the beginning of time, Man has always tried to find a means to clear the obstacles which nature erected to displace him. With the first tree trunk thrown across a river, man sought to improve the crossing structure. After the invention of the wheel, and to satisfy his thirst for conquest (Roman ways), and comfort (aqueducts), man built bridges that became a preremptory necessity to move quickly. Thus, Man started to build wooden and masonry works. With the passing centuries, the builders became masters in the art of building masonry works. Then came the Industrial Revolution and the advent of the steel (1864), which was closely followed by the invention of the reinforced concrete (1855). The need for railways and improving the road network inspired great works of crossing such as viaducts and tunnels. The boom of the railway network and the development of the car required the construction of an increasing number of new structures. This phenomenon continues today with hundreds of structures built each year throughout the world.

Hodge Theory

Hodge Theory PDF Author: Eduardo H.C. Cattani
Publisher: Springer
ISBN: 3540477942
Category : Mathematics
Languages : en
Pages : 182

Book Description
Over the past 2O years classical Hodge theory has undergone several generalizations of great interest in algebraic geometry. The papers in this volume reflect the recent developments in the areas of: mixed Hodge theory on the cohomology of singular and open varieties, on the rational homotopy of algebraic varieties, on the cohomology of a link, and on the vanishing cycles; L -realization of the intersection cohomology for the cases of singular varieties and smooth varieties with degenerating coefficients; applications of cubical hyperresolutions and of iterated integrals; asymptotic behavior of degenerating variations of Hodge structure; the geometric realization of maximal variations; and variations of mixed Hodge structure. Motives

Motives PDF Author: Uwe Jannsen
Publisher: American Mathematical Soc.
ISBN: 0821827979
Category : Mathematics
Languages : en
Pages : 766

Book Description
'Motives' were introduced in the mid-1960s by Grothendieck to explain the analogies among the various cohomology theories for algebraic varieties, and to play the role of the missing rational cohomology. This work contains the texts of the lectures presented at the AMS-IMS-SIAM Joint Summer Research Conference on Motives, held in Seattle, in 1991.
