Christian Thought, Vol. 7 PDF Author: Charles Force Deems
Publisher: Forgotten Books

Category : Self-Help
Languages : en
Pages : 484

Book Description
Excerpt from Christian Thought, Vol. 7: Lectures and Papers on Philosophy, Christian Evidence, Biblical Elucidation We hear much in these days of a conflict between science and the Bible. SO far as I know, there is no conflict between the science of mind and the Bible, or between the science of language and the Bible - or between the science of law and the Bible. Turning to the physical sciences, and setting aside a. Few events, termed miracles, which the Bobk itself, by the use it makes of them, declares to be outside of the sphere of science, I am not aware of any conflict between the Bible and the sciences of chemistry, or astronomy, or physics. The conflict, if it ex ist, appears to be between certain received teachings of the Bible as to the age of the earth and of man, and the origin of species, and the received teachings of biology and geology concerning the same matters. It is worthy of remark that the disagreement is with the most complex and difficult sciences and not with the simplest and most exact, although less was known of the latter in the earlier times than of the former, and we might fairly expect to find in a human composition of those times, more errors in physics than in biology.
