Enterprise Mac Administrators Guide

Enterprise Mac Administrators Guide PDF Author: Charles Edge
Publisher: Apress
ISBN: 1430224444
Category : Computers
Languages : en
Pages : 608

Book Description
Charles Edge, Zack Smith, and Beau Hunter provide detailed explanations of the technology required for large-scale Mac OS X deployments and show you how to integrate it with other operating systems and applications. Enterprise Mac Administrator's Guide addresses the growing size and spread of Mac OS X deployments in corporations and institutions worldwide. In some cases, this is due to the growth of traditional Mac environments, but for the most part it has to do with "switcher" campaigns, where Windows and/or Linux environments are migrating to Mac OS X. However, there is a steep culture shock with these types of migrations. The products that are used are different, the nomenclature is different, and most importantly the best practices for dealing with the operating system are different. Apple provides a number of tools to help automate and guide IT toward managing a large number of Mac OS X computers—it has since before Mac OS X was initially released. However, if you want to put together all of the pieces to tell a compelling story about how to run an IT department or a deployment of Macs, you need to compile information from a number of different sources. This book will provide explanations of the technology required. Provides complete solutions for the large- and medium-scale integration of directory services, imaging, and security Complete guide for integrating Macs and Mac OS X into mixed environments with confidence and no down time One-stop volume for IT professionals who need the technical details to get their job done as efficiently and effectively as possible

A-Z Guide to Modern Social and Political Theorists

A-Z Guide to Modern Social and Political Theorists PDF Author: Professor Stuart Sim
Publisher: Routledge
ISBN: 1317903501
Category : Social Science
Languages : en
Pages : 425

Book Description
The A-Z Guide to Modern Social and Political Theories is a companion volume to the already published A-Z Guide to Modern Literary and Cultural Theorists. It ranges widely through the social sciences and related areas to identify thinkers who have had a major impact on the development of modern social and political theory and given clear, accessible summaries of their work. While the accent is on the later twentieth century, several up-and-coming theorists are included to ensure a contemporary edge to the volume, classic names in the field from the earlier twentieth century are not neglected, and the collection also delves back into the nineteenth century for such founding figures of the social sciences as Marx and Comte. The volume is therefore both up-to-date and mindful of the sources of modern debates.

Your Healthy Brain: A Personal and Family Guide to Staying Healthy and Living Longer

Your Healthy Brain: A Personal and Family Guide to Staying Healthy and Living Longer PDF Author: Stephen J. Kiraly, MD, FRCPC
Publisher: Lulu.com
ISBN: 1483414809
Category : Science
Languages : en
Pages : 297

Book Description
Your Healthy Brain is a presentation of The Healthy Brain Program(c) which was an innovative approach to addressing brain care and the need for a long and healthy life, first presented to mental health professionals and then to the public, starting in 2000. The concepts were presented at many psychiatric conferences both in Canada and the USA, in a 10-lecture interactive workshop format to colleagues and to the public. They have gained popularity and some Community Mental Health Teams have adopted The Healthy Brain Program(c) as a platform for delivering brain care. After about 350 presentations, many colleagues and participants urged the publication of a book format. The first edition appeared in 2008. This book, Your Healthy Brain, is organized along the same lines as the lecture series, following the same headings, in two parts.

Category : Games & Activities
Languages : en
Pages : 385

Book Description
The Video Games Guide is the world's most comprehensive reference book on computer and video games. Bullets Not Ballots

Bullets Not Ballots PDF Author: Jacqueline L. Hazelton
Publisher: Cornell University Press
ISBN: 1501754807
Category : Political Science
Languages : en
Pages : 221

Book Description
In Bullets Not Ballots, Jacqueline L. Hazelton challenges the claim that winning "hearts and minds" is critical to successful counterinsurgency campaigns. Good governance, this conventional wisdom holds, gains the besieged government popular support, denies support to the insurgency, and makes military victory possible. Hazelton argues that major counterinsurgent successes since World War II have resulted not through democratic reforms but rather through the use of military force against civilians and the co-optation of rival elites. Hazelton offers new analyses of five historical cases frequently held up as examples of the effectiveness of good governance in ending rebellions—the Malayan Emergency, the Greek Civil War, the Huk Rebellion in the Philippines, the Dhofar rebellion in Oman, and the Salvadoran Civil War—to show that, although unpalatable, it was really brutal repression and bribery that brought each conflict to an end. By showing how compellence works in intrastate conflicts, Bullets Not Ballots makes clear that whether or not the international community decides these human, moral, and material costs are acceptable, responsible policymaking requires recognizing the actual components of counterinsurgent success—and the limited influence that external powers have over the tactics of counterinsurgent elites.
