Cope, Esq., Of Germantown, Philadelphia: Mezzotint, Line and Stipple, Being the Most Important Collection Ever Placed Before the American Public, to Be Sold Tuesday, May 12th, 1896 and Following Days His sale, which is without exception the grandest that has even been offered to the American public, was placed in my hands for disposal at auction, through the courtesy of W. H. Campion, Esq., under whose super vision the Cope Estate has very properly placed it. It is conceded by all to be the largest and most important in this country, and probably not excelled by any private collection abroad. The collection was so large and varied that I considered it necessary to divide it into three catalogues. In this catalogue (part II.) will be found the Portraits engraved in mezzotint, line and stipple, embracing the choicest examples of the old and modern masters.
