Romney Readiness Project 2012

Romney Readiness Project 2012 PDF Author:
Publisher: R2p Incorporated
ISBN: 9780615799865
Category : Political planning
Languages : en
Pages : 138

Book Description
The importance of effective and well-planned presidential transitions has long been understood. The Presidential Transition Act of 1963 provided a formal recognition of this principle by providing the President-elect funding and other resources "To promote the orderly transfer of the executive power in connection with the expiration of the term of office of a President and the Inauguration of a new President." The Act received minor amendments in the following decades, but until 2010 all support providedwas entirely post-election. The Pre-Election Presidential Act of 2010 changed this by providing pre-election support to nominees of both parties. Its passing reinforced the belief that early transition planning is prudent, not presumptuous. The Romney Readiness Project was the first transition effort to operate with this enhanced pre-election focus. While Obama's re-election prevented a Romney transition from occurring, it is hoped that the content of this book can provide a valuable insight to future transition teams of both parties.

The Myth of Voter Suppression

The Myth of Voter Suppression PDF Author: Fred V. Lucas
Publisher: Bombardier Books
ISBN: 1637587864
Category : Political Science
Languages : en
Pages : 187

Book Description
“In the tradition of Tammany Hall and the Jim Crow era, Democrats are still bent on hastily bending and changing election laws to make it easier to wield power. Fred Lucas, a veteran Washington Correspondent, details how the Biden-Pelosi agenda is attempting a federal takeover to wipe away states’ clean election laws such as voter ID and undermine confidence in elections.” –Mark Levin, host of Life, Liberty & Levin; #1 New York Times bestselling author The Myth of Voter Suppression exposes the widespread lies about US elections and the real threats to democracy. It investigates the big money that’s bankrolling the voter suppression hysteria industrial complex. When nearly half of the states adopted election integrity laws, such as voter ID and restrictions on ballot trafficking, the left inaccurately howled “Jim Crow 2.0.” But voter turnout soared, cramping Joe Biden and Nancy Pelosi’s goal of a federal election takeover that would more appropriately be called “Tammany Hall 2.0”—only this time it would be national. When these bills were rejected, President Biden used executive power for an “all-of-government approach” deputizing federal agencies in a Get-out-the-Vote effort. Voter fraud is still a problem, as proven by numerous convictions and overturned elections in recent years. Voter suppression is a soundbite, void of provable cases in modern times. Clearly, election security is facing a threat in America. The Myth of Voter Suppression sorts out the truth and lies that every informed voter needs to know.

I Alone Can Fix It

I Alone Can Fix It PDF Author: Carol Leonnig
Publisher: Penguin

Category : Political Science

Pages : 592

Book Description
The instant #1 New York Times bestseller | A Washington Post Notable Book | One of NPR's Best Books of 2021 The definitive behind-the-scenes story of Trump's final year in office, by Phil Rucker and Carol Leonnig, the Pulitzer-Prize winning reporters and authors of A Very Stable Genius. “Chilling.” – Anderson Cooper “Jaw-dropping.” – John Berman “Shocking.” – John Heilemann “Explosive.” – Hallie Jackson “Blockbuster new reporting.” – Nicolle Wallace “Bracing new revelations.” – Brian Williams “Bombshell reporting.” – David Muir The true story of what took place in Donald Trump’s White House during a disastrous 2020 has never before been told in full. What was really going on around the president, as the government failed to contain the coronavirus and over half a million Americans perished? Who was influencing Trump after he refused to concede an election he had clearly lost and spread lies about election fraud? To answer these questions, Phil Rucker and Carol Leonnig reveal a dysfunctional and bumbling presidency’s inner workings in unprecedented, stunning detail. Focused on Trump and the key players around him—the doctors, generals, senior advisers, and Trump family members— Rucker and Leonnig provide a forensic account of the most devastating year in a presidency like no other. Their sources were in the room as time and time again Trump put his personal gain ahead of the good of the country. These witnesses to history tell the story of him longing to deploy the military to the streets of American cities to crush the protest movement in the wake of the killing of George Floyd, all to bolster his image of strength ahead of the election. These sources saw firsthand his refusal to take the threat of the coronavirus seriously—even to the point of allowing himself and those around him to be infected. This is a story of a nation sabotaged—economically, medically, and politically—by its own leader, culminating with a groundbreaking, minute-by-minute account of exactly what went on in the Capitol building on January 6, as Trump’s supporters so easily breached the most sacred halls of American democracy, and how the president reacted. With unparalleled access, Rucker and Leonnig explain and expose exactly who enabled—and who foiled—Trump as he sought desperately to cling to power. A classic and heart-racing work of investigative reporting, this book is destined to be read and studied by citizens and historians alike for decades to come.

Strengthening Forensic Science in the United States

Strengthening Forensic Science in the United States PDF Author: National Research Council
Publisher: National Academies Press
ISBN: 0309142393
Category : Law
Languages : en
Pages : 348

Book Description
Scores of talented and dedicated people serve the forensic science community, performing vitally important work. However, they are often constrained by lack of adequate resources, sound policies, and national support. It is clear that change and advancements, both systematic and scientific, are needed in a number of forensic science disciplines to ensure the reliability of work, establish enforceable standards, and promote best practices with consistent application. Strengthening Forensic Science in the United States: A Path Forward provides a detailed plan for addressing these needs and suggests the creation of a new government entity, the National Institute of Forensic Science, to establish and enforce standards within the forensic science community. The benefits of improving and regulating the forensic science disciplines are clear: assisting law enforcement officials, enhancing homeland security, and reducing the risk of wrongful conviction and exoneration. Strengthening Forensic Science in the United States gives a full account of what is needed to advance the forensic science disciplines, including upgrading of systems and organizational structures, better training, widespread adoption of uniform and enforceable best practices, and mandatory certification and accreditation programs. While this book provides an essential call-to-action for congress and policy makers, it also serves as a vital tool for law enforcement agencies, criminal prosecutors and attorneys, and forensic science educators.
