Book Description
The RSS-4 team collected several data sets related to leaf, plant, and stand physical, optical, and chemical properties. This data set contains leaf area indices and FPAR measurements that were taken at the three conifer sites in the BOREAS SSA during August 1993 and at the jack pine tower flux and a subset of auxiliary sites during July and August 1994. The measurements were made with LAI-2000 and Ceptometer instruments. The measurements were taken for the purpose of model parameterization and to test empirical relationships that were hypothesized between biophysical parameters and remotely sensed data. The data are stored in tabular ASCII files.Hall, Forrest G. Advances in Environmental Remote Sensing
Author: F. Mark Danson
Publisher: John Wiley & Sons
ISBN:
Category : Science
Languages : en
Pages : 216
Book Description
Significant advances have been made in mapping and monitoring our environment from Earth Observation satellites, but now, in the 1990s, remote sensing has reached a new technological and scientific frontier. Advances in Environmental Remote Sensing not only describes recent technological advances but also emphasises the parallel progress that has been made in interpreting and applying data to solve environmental problems. A team of scientists working at the research edge examine applications using examples from their own current work, and identify key paths for the development of remote sensing into the next century. This is an essential book for students of geography, environmental science, ecology, forestry and geology, as well as an important reference tool for anyone interested in applications of remote sensing.

Terrestrial Carbon Observation
Author: Global Terrestrial Observing System (Organization)
Publisher: Food & Agriculture Org.
ISBN: 9789251048016
Category : Science
Languages : en
Pages : 112
Book Description
The term 'terrestrial carbon' refers to carbon contained in vegetation or soil stocks. The global carbon cycle plays an important role in sustaining agricultural productivity, biodiversity and forest ecosystems processes. This report presents the results of a workshop, held in Canada in February 2000 and organised by the Global Terrestrial Observing System (GTOS) in collaboration with the International Geosphere-Biosphere Programme (IGBP). The workshop was designed to review existing data and observation requirements regarding terrestrial carbon, identify major gaps and propose solutions.
