Biennial Report of the California State Department of Education, Vol. 2
Author: California State Department o Education
Publisher: Forgotten Books
ISBN: 9781391185309
Category : Business & Economics
Languages : en
Pages : 476
Book Description
Excerpt from Biennial Report of the California State Department of Education, Vol. 2: For the School Years Ending June 30, 1931 and June 30, 1932 Repeal by the 1933 California Legislature of those sections of the School Code requiring the triennial registration of all minors under the age of 18 years eliminated this registration of minors and resulted in the elimination from this report of the summaries previously pub lished of the data reported from the several counties relative to the registration. Consideration of the necessity for conserving local school district funds resulted in the decision by the Department of Education to discontinue the state-wide report of acceleration and retardation of pupils. Thus, this report does not contain the usual summary of acceleration-retardation data previously included as a part of the biennial report of the State Department of Education. The necessity for the conservation of the funds appropriated for the support of the 'department of Education has occasioned the elimination of numerous other tables and sections hitherto made a part of the biennial report. Thus, the biennial statistics of the University of California were eliminated, since these data are available in the Annual Reports of the President and Comptroller of the Uni versity of California. In addition, many tables of derived data, computed from the basic data. Which are presented in the report, have not been included in this publication, inasmuch as they appear to be of less value than the tabulations of the basic data themselves. Certain other tabulations have been omitted because the accuracy and value of the data reported were questionable. Such tabulations include those which have been included in previous reports relative to the valuation of school property, the distribution of school buildings by type as classified in accordance with the classifications of the American Institute of Architecture, and some few tabulations of financial data which have heretofore been taken from the reports of the State Controller. It is our belief that we have omitted from this report no essential data available in the statistical reports rendered to this office by the several school officials of the state. Most of the tabulations which have been omitted from this report are available in the office of the Division of Research and Statistics and will be kept permanently accessible to those who may desire to consult them.
