Book Description
National Education Policy 2020 states that India is a global leader in information and communication technology and education will play a critical role in this transformation. Technology and education at all levels have a mutually beneficial relationship since technology itself significantly contribute to the enhancement of educational procedures and results. In the field of education, technology is also putting a drastic change and making the way of learning and teaching much easier and more innovative as compare to the olden days. Especially during the time of pandemic, technology played a very crucial role in the field of education. It makes people aware about the technical world. The first education policy of the twenty-first century, National Education Policy 2020 attempts to address the many expanding experimental imperatives facing our nation. In order to create a new system that is in line with the ambitious goals of 21st-century education, including SDG4, while building upon India's traditions and value systems, this policy suggests changing and remodelling every element of the educational structure, including its regulation and governance. The National Education Policy lays particular emphasis on the development of the creative potentiality of each person. One of the endless tasks of the National Educational Technology Forum (NETF) will be to classify imperative technologies grounded on their implicit and estimated timeframe for dislocation, and to periodically present this analysis to MHRD. MHRD will formally identify those technologies whose emergence necessitates reactions from the educational system based on these inputs. Keeping in mind the recommendations of NEP 2020, this book is the attempt to highlight the new emerging technologies of the 21st century which help the teacher and the students to understand the concept and importance of these emerging technologies. This book provides a comprehensive understanding of the emergence and evolution of new technologies in the field of education to enhance learning. It consists of 11 chapters which includes Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning - provide predictive analytics and individualized learning experiences and have the potential to completely transform the education industry. Virtual Reality and Augmented Reality -these two cutting-edge technologies provide immersive and interactive learning experiences and are becoming more and more popular in the educational sector. Data Analytics or Learning Analytics -with its ability to provide insights on student performance, engagement, and learning outcomes, data analytics is becoming more and more significant in the educational field. By analysing data from different sources, educators can identify trends, predict student success, and implement evidence-based strategies to improve teaching and learning. Microlearning and Mobile Learning -they represent a paradigm shift in the Indian educational framework. They align with the national goals of digital India and education for all, promoting a more democratized, flexible, and learner-centric approach to education. Internet of Things (IoT) - often termed as "Smart Education," encompasses a wide array of applications that transcend traditional learning methodologies. It aims to transcend traditional boundaries, enabling a seamless blend of physical and digital learning spaces, which is especially pivotal in a country marked by diverse socio-economic and geographical landscapes. Gamification and Game-Based Learning - with their inclusive and adaptable nature, offer a more personalized and engaging learning experience. This is particularly relevant in a country like India, where digital access and literacy are on the rise, paving the way for digital learning solutions to make a substantial impact. Electronic and interactive textbooks - these digital resources have revolutionized the way educators teach and students learn, offering dynamic content that goes beyond the static pages of traditional textbooks. Active and Collaborative Learning - in the realm of education, active learning is not just a methodology but a paradigm shifts that champions student engagement as the cornerstone of effective learning. This approach, significantly beneficial in the Indian context, challenges students to interact with the material, engage in higher-order thinking, and apply knowledge in varied scenarios. It's an approach that transforms classrooms from silent note-taking environments to vibrant interactive spaces where students question, discuss, and explore subjects deeply. This book examines the current state of these new technologies from several educational perspectives, highlights some of them, and discusses both their established and potential educational benefits. In addition, it provides an in-depth discussion of recent developments and future challenges from many different perspectives. This book is an informative resource for scholars, policymakers and researchers in pedagogy, educational technology, digital learning, communication and education research. The book content equips educators at all levels with essential information required to adapt to emerging technologies in order to improve teaching, student support and learning outcomes. How People Learn
Author: National Research Council
Publisher: National Academies Press
ISBN: 0309131979
Category : Education
Languages : en
Pages : 386
Book Description
First released in the Spring of 1999, How People Learn has been expanded to show how the theories and insights from the original book can translate into actions and practice, now making a real connection between classroom activities and learning behavior. This edition includes far-reaching suggestions for research that could increase the impact that classroom teaching has on actual learning. Like the original edition, this book offers exciting new research about the mind and the brain that provides answers to a number of compelling questions. When do infants begin to learn? How do experts learn and how is this different from non-experts? What can teachers and schools do-with curricula, classroom settings, and teaching methodsâ€"to help children learn most effectively? New evidence from many branches of science has significantly added to our understanding of what it means to know, from the neural processes that occur during learning to the influence of culture on what people see and absorb. How People Learn examines these findings and their implications for what we teach, how we teach it, and how we assess what our children learn. The book uses exemplary teaching to illustrate how approaches based on what we now know result in in-depth learning. This new knowledge calls into question concepts and practices firmly entrenched in our current education system. Topics include: How learning actually changes the physical structure of the brain. How existing knowledge affects what people notice and how they learn. What the thought processes of experts tell us about how to teach. The amazing learning potential of infants. The relationship of classroom learning and everyday settings of community and workplace. Learning needs and opportunities for teachers. A realistic look at the role of technology in education.

Autonomous Language Learning with Technology
Author: Chun Lai
Publisher: Bloomsbury Publishing
ISBN: 1474240437
Category : Language Arts & Disciplines
Languages : en
Pages : 239
Book Description
This book looks beyond the classroom, and focuses on out-of-class autonomous use of technology for language learning, discussing the theoretical frameworks, key findings and critical issues. The proliferation of digital language learning resources and tools is forcing language education into an era of unprecedented change. The book will stimulate discussions on how to support language learners to construct quality autonomous technology-mediated out-of-class learning experience outside the classroom and raise greater awareness of and research interest in this field. Out-of-class learning constitutes an important context for human development, and active engagement in out-of-class activities is associated with successful language development. With convenient access to expanded resources, venues and learning spaces, today's learners are not as dependent on in-class learning as they used to be. Thus, a deeper understanding of the terrain of out-of-class learning is of increasing significance in the current educational era. Technology is part and parcel of out-of-class language learning, and has been a primary source that learners actively use to construct language learning experience beyond the classroom. Language learners of all ages around the world have been found to actively utilize technological resources to support their language learning beyond formal language learning contexts. Insights into learners' out-of-class autonomous use of technology for language learning are essential to our understanding of out-of-class learning and inform educators on how language learners could be better supported to maximize the educational potentials of technology to construct quality out-of-class learning experience.

The Routledge Handbook of Language Learning and Teaching Beyond the Classroom
Author: Hayo Reinders
Publisher: Routledge
ISBN: 1000574636
Category : Education
Languages : en
Pages : 612
Book Description
Informal language learning beyond the classroom plays an important and growing role in language learning and teaching. This Handbook brings together the existing body of research and unites the various disciplines that have explored this area, in order to present the current state of knowledge in one accessible resource. Much of adult learning takes place outside of formal education and for language learning, it is likely that out-of-class experiences play an equally important role. It is therefore surprising that the role of informal language learning has received little attention over the years, with the vast majority of research instead focusing on the classroom. Researchers from a range of backgrounds, however, have started to realise the important contribution of informal language learning, both in its own right, and in its relationship with classroom learning. Studies in the areas of learner autonomy, learning strategies, study abroad, language support, learners’ voices, computer-mediated communication, mobile-assisted language learning, digital gaming, and many others, all add to our understanding of the complex and intersecting ways in which learners construct their own language learning experiences, drawing from a wide range of resources, including materials, teachers, self-study, technology, other learners and native speakers. This Handbook provides a sound and comprehensive basis for researchers and graduate students to build upon in their own research of language learning and teaching beyond the classroom.

Measurement Demystified
Author: David Vance
Publisher: Association for Talent Development
ISBN: 1950496864
Category : Business & Economics
Languages : en
Pages : 496
Book Description
Your Groundbreaking Framework for Measurement and Reporting Most people find measurement, analytics, and reporting daunting—and L&D professionals are no different. As these practices have become critically important for organizations’ efforts to improve performance, talent development professionals have often been slow to embrace them for many reasons, including the seeming complexity and challenge of the practices. Few organizations have a well-thought-out measurement and reporting strategy, and there are often scant resources, limited time, and imperfect data to work with when organizations do attempt to create one. Measurement Demystified: Creating Your L&D Measurement, Analytics, and Reporting Strategy is a much-needed and welcomed resource that breaks new ground with a framework to simplify the discussion of measurement, analytics, and reporting as it relates to L&D and talent development practitioners. This book helps practitioners select and use the right measures for the right reasons; select, create, and use the right types of reports; and create a comprehensive measurement and reporting strategy. Recognizing the angst and reluctance people often show in these areas, authors and experts David Vance and Peggy Parskey break down the practices and processes by providing a common language and an easy-to-use structure. They describe five types of reports, four broad reasons to measure, and three categories of measures. Their method works for large and small organizations, even if yours is an L&D staff of one or two. The guidance remains the same: Start small and grow. Measurement Demystified is a great first book for talent development professionals with no prior knowledge of or experience with measurement and a valuable resource for measurement experts. Those adept at lower levels of training evaluation will grow their knowledge base and capabilities, while measurement experts will discover shortcuts and nuggets of information to enhance their practices. A more comprehensive treatment of these important topics will not be found elsewhere.
