Bandersnatch

Bandersnatch PDF Author: Erika Morrison
Publisher: Thomas Nelson
ISBN: 0718037464
Category : Religion
Languages : en
Pages : 256

Book Description
IDENTIFY THE EXPECTATIONS AND LABELS THAT CRAMP YOUR SOUL. Contemporary Christianity seems to be suffering from an epidemic of sameness. Uniformity. Monotony. Those trapped inside are often afraid to step beyond established norms and innovatively express themselves, or they simply don’t know how. And those on the outside of Christianity often see very little that attracts them. Yet God, out of the abundance of his own artistic force, made each one of us unique. Peculiar. Irreplaceable. So why so much pressure to conform? Bandersnatch* explores this intersection of disillusionment and welcomes readers to a liberating journey, an odyssey of the soul. This process is an opportunity for fellow Christians who are feeling weary or stifled by established norms to find God in unconventional ways, as well as an invitation for people on the outside to reimagine what following the mystery of Christ could be like. It is organized around four terms viewed through the life of Jesus: Avant-Garde, Alchemy, Anthropology, and Art. Each expression reveals a diverse facet of God’s unorthodox creativity planted within us, provides a fresh look at the divine nature, and offers a reframed collection of definitions by which to live. Erika Morrison gives us permission to break free from the expectations and labels that cramp our souls. Then, through the lens of singularity, she encourages her readers to cultivate artful, holistic, contributing lives that matter to both heaven and earth. *A BANDERSNATCH, WHILE MORE COMMONLY KNOWN AS THE WILD, FEROCIOUS, AND MYTHICAL CREATURE OF LEWIS CARROLL’S CREATION, IS ALSO A PERSON WITH UNCONVENTIONAL HABITS AND ATTITUDES.

Star Trek: Destiny #2: Mere Mortals

Star Trek: Destiny #2: Mere Mortals PDF Author: David Mack
Publisher: Simon and Schuster
ISBN: 1439117926
Category : Fiction
Languages : en
Pages : 449

Book Description
The second novel in an epic crossover trilogy uniting characters from every corner of the Star Trek universe, revealing the shocking origin and final fate of the Federation's most dangerous enemy—the Borg. On Earth, Federation President Nanietta Bacco gathers allies and adversaries to form a desperate last line of defense against an impending Borg invasion. In deep space, Captain Jean-Luc Picard and Captain Ezri Dax join together to cut off the Collective’s route to the Alpha Quadrant. Half a galaxy away, Captain William Riker and the crew of the Starship Titan have made contact with the reclusive Caeliar—survivors of a stellar cataclysm that, two hundred years ago, drove fissures through the structure of space and time, creating a loop of inevitability and consigning another captain and crew to a purgatory from which they could never escape. Now the supremely advanced Caeliar will brook no further intrusion upon their isolation, or against the sanctity of their Great Work. For the small, finite lives of mere mortals carry little weight in the calculations of gods. But even gods may come to understand that they underestimate humans at their peril.

Introduction to Stellar Astrophysics: Volume 1, Basic Stellar Observations and Data

Introduction to Stellar Astrophysics: Volume 1, Basic Stellar Observations and Data PDF Author: Erika Böhm-Vitense
Publisher: Cambridge University Press
ISBN: 9780521348690
Category : Science
Languages : en
Pages : 260

Book Description
This textbook introduction to the basic elements of fundamental astronomy and astrophysics serves as a foundation for understanding the structure, evolution, and observed properties of stars. The first half of the book explains how stellar motions, distances, luminosities, colors, radii, masses and temperatures are measured or derived. The author then shows how data of these sorts can be arranged to classify stars through their spectra. Stellar rotation and stellar magnetic fields are introduced. Stars with peculiar spectra and pulsating stars also merit special attention. The endpoints of stellar evolutions are briefly described. There is a separate chapter on the Sun and a final one on interstellar absorption. The usefulness of this text is enhanced by the inclusion of problems for students, tables of astronomical constants, and a selective bibliography. This is an excellent textbook for undergraduate and beginning graduate students studying astronomy and astrophysics.
