Book Description
I am a Russian-born American citizen and Jewish. I have been raised during the oppressive Soviet regime and fortunate enough to leave it behind. This political memoir is my contribution to show people the contrast between what I have experienced and what we are experiencing in the United States currently. AfterTastes and Tales from Russia (Forgive me for being anti Social...ism) is part memoirs, part political analysis and opinions. The point I try to make is simple, that socialism has never worked and I provide my childhood memories, experiences and analysis on why. AfterTastes and Tales from Russia is a book that will reach out to the people of all political spectrum and race. I provide examples on how the non-religious, atheist society may still be very prejudiced and, in fact, more prejudiced than a free society. I want to help save this nation, so my book is as much from the heart as it is from my knowledge.

Book Description
Mace Evans is single at thirty-eight. When her much unloved older sister, Shannon, declares that Mace is anti-social, she embarks on a journey to understand her condition; whether she was born that way or if it is the accumulation of thirty-eight years of unfortunate encounters with other humans and dogs. For reasons unbeknown to Mace, she has an affair with a work colleague, which brings an unexpected end to her perfect marriage. And as if the self-imposed torture and regret is not enough, Mace endures ongoing judgment from her older sister and mother, which further exacerbates already tenuous relationships. With support from her four best friends, merlot and pizza, and with guidance from her life coach and mentor, Oscar Wilde, Mace recovers to a degree, but in her quest to understand her anti-social ways, she finds herself wondering about the quality of the fabric that keeps her network of friends intact. When Mace's mother is diagnosed with cancer, Mace searches for common ground on which to connect before it is too late. Gold medal winner, 2012 Readers Favorite book awards (Chick Lit)

Tackling anti-social behaviour
Author: Great Britain: National Audit Office
Publisher: The Stationery Office
ISBN: 9780102943917
Category : Law
Languages : en
Pages : 52
Book Description
Anti-social behaviour encompasses a broad range of behaviours including nuisance behaviour, intimidation and vandalism. Seventeen per cent of the population perceive high levels of anti-social behaviour in their area, with the young and the less well off being disproportionately affected, at a cost to government agencies of responding to reports of anti-social behaviour in England and Wales of around £3.4 billion per year. This report examines the work of the Home Office's Anti-Social Behaviour Unit set up in 2003 and measures introduced by the Home Office since 1997 to tackle anti-social behaviour, focusing on the impact of three of the most commonly used interventions: warning letters, Acceptable Behaviour Contracts and Anti-Social Behaviour Orders. Using a sample of 893 cases, the report found that the majority of people who received one of these interventions did not re-engage in anti-social behaviour, but there were a number of perpetrators for whom interventions had limited impact, with about 20 per cent of the sample having received 55 per cent of the interventions issued. Recommendations include that the Home Office should undertake formal evaluation of the success of different interventions and the impact of combining these with support services at the local level. International research suggests that preventive programmes, such as education, counselling and training can be a cost effective way of addressing anti-social behaviour.

Thinking Straight About Being Gay
Author: T. M. Murray
Publisher: AuthorHouse
ISBN: 150494397X
Category : Religion
Languages : en
Pages : 336
Book Description
Imagine a future scenario in which prospective parents will have the option to decide the sexual orientation of their offspring in the privacy of a doctors consultation room.In the past, liberals dreaded the intrusion of a paternalistic state apparatus into the minutiae of peoples private lives. In the future they may have to fear the reverse: that private reproductive decisions will impact the very demographic composition of future generations that make up the public. Nowhere does this book claim that the ability to isolate a gay gene or similar genetic marker for homosexuality currently exists. Rather, it demonstrates how Christian bioethicists and liberal eugenicists have so far anticipated and addressed the seemingly implausible scenario just described and provides a liberal critique of the their arguments, should pre-natal selection for sexual orientation ever become a genuine possibility. Murray provides an unprecedented survey of Christian bioethicists responses to the gay science of the 1990s, and shows where they fit in a long religious tradition of stigmatizing and pathologizing homosexual people that stretches back to first century Christian communities. This book contains no assertion that all people who identify as homosexual, gay, lesbian, bi, or transgender are born that way. Nor does it suggest that being born that way is a necessary condition for granting full legal acceptance of homosexual behavior. Rather, it reveals how religious teachings about human sexuality have both misrepresented the facts of human nature and misjudged their ethical significance. Murrays analysis provides an opportunity for the universal and global church and those who object to homosexuality as less than innate to reconsider and learn new perspectives. Reverend Rowland Jide Macaulay, Founder & CEO, House Of Rainbow Fellowship, Lagos, Nigeria and London, United Kingdom A fresh, informative and challenging contribution to the scientific and ethical issues concerning homosexuality, which debunks traditional Christian objections and tackles the emerging debate around the potential of genome editing to eliminate same-sex behaviour.
