Book Description
These words were spoken by Marcus Tullius Cicero, a Roman philosopher, over two thousand years ago. What meanings do they carry over to the American people today? The United States of America has been called the melting pot of the world. A more accurate description, in my opinion, is a large jar of mixed marbles. The American citizen of African descent has been in America longer and has done more for America than most other ethnic groups. Yet we are attacked, lambasted, demonized, inhumanely abused, reviled, lied to, and lied about, more than all other ethnic groups combined. We have been subjugated to eating the guts of animals that the other ethnic groups throw away and the greens, roots, and dandelions that grew wild in the fields. This, along with being assailed with rules, regulations, laws, and practices are designed to keep us down and deprived. Yet, we continue to prevail. Today, as a people, we are at a crossroad in our lives. In order to make the best decisions for our prosperity, we must uncover our gloried past that was systematically kept from us. This will better enable us to better understand and answer the why questions of today, thereby being able to come up with more appropriate directions for our tomorrows. This is why I pause to write! Young people you are our hope. We cannot go forward without you. Search your past, share your stories (in writing), bring out the commonalities we share, and encourage each other with a singleness of purpose as you take us forward.

They Who Endure to the End

They Who Endure to the End PDF Author: Everett Berry
Publisher: Wipf and Stock Publishers
ISBN: 1498239684
Category : Religion
Languages : en
Pages : 310

Book Description
Is it possible for a true believer in Christ to apostatize? If so, how? Also, how can professing believers know if they are truly born again? What assurance can they have that they will never renounce their faith? These questions have been asked for centuries as Christians have wrestled with what Scripture says about these matters. The search for answers has instilled strong disagreements among Christian traditions. In this book, we navigate the terrain of this debate by examining the pertinent biblical data, surveying the history of major views that have been advocated by various denominations, and offering a synthesis of all this material in the hopes that readers can see how Scripture assures believers of their security in Christ.

How to Endure to the End

How to Endure to the End PDF Author: Pamela Hatfield

ISBN: 146851122X
Category : Religion
Languages : en
Pages : 96

Book Description
How to endure to the End deals with the necessary ingredients to help Christians endure through the storms of life. If you have ever thought if God would just tell me what I need to do I would do it, then this book is for you. God cant just tell people what to do like He did in the Old Testament because our beliefs, traditional teachings and our worldly brain actually keep us from hearing the truth. We no longer even recognize the works of the Holy Spirit or know how to seek interpretation to our dreams therefore hindering the communication between God and ourselves. This book is geared toward Christians who are seeking to grow in their faith. It is not directed to any particular denomination.

The Elderly Must Endure

The Elderly Must Endure PDF Author: Rebecca Fanany
Publisher: ISEAS-Yusof Ishak Institute
ISBN: 9814818461
Category : Social Science
Languages : en
Pages : 324

Book Description
Since its independence in 1945, Indonesia has experienced decades of rapid social change that have affected every area of life and have reached even the most remote parts of the country. The impact on the experience of the population has been equally significant, especially for those individuals who are over the age of 60 today and have lived through much of this period. This book concerns older members of the Minangkabau ethnic group, one of Indonesia’s many local cultures. The Minangkabau have an ancient matrilineal social structure that is embodied in their local law and customs (adat) and that, in the view of many Minangkabau, is under increasing pressure in the modern context. Today’s older Minangkabau are deeply affected by these challenges to the traditional way of life which relate to fundamental social patterns, such as the nature of the long-established tradition of leaving their region of origin to work elsewhere (marantau) and the structure of relationships within the extended family, as well as the potential value of traditional practices in modern society. The gap between their expectations that were formed early in their life and the realities of life in modern Indonesia often create serious problems of cultural consonance that represent a personal challenge for which there is no precedent and no established strategy to address. This book is based on a long-term study of older Minangkabau in modern Indonesia with a focus on cultural consonance. It profiles the members of one family from a village in the highlands of West Sumatra whose members now live in cities across Indonesia as well as in their village of origin. The challenges but also the opportunities experienced by these individuals, and members of the older Minangkabau population in general, are characteristic of similar social change experienced across Indonesia in recent decades and illustrate the nature of culture shift in the rapidly urbanizing and modernizing context of modern Indonesia.

After You Have Suffered a While

After You Have Suffered a While PDF Author: Caroline Cross
Publisher: Page Publishing Inc
ISBN: 1643348590
Category : Biography & Autobiography
Languages : en
Pages : 142

Book Description
Well, Jesus suffered. My suffering began as a child and continued into my adulthood. Well, God so loved the world that He gave his only begotten Son. Jesus suffered while going to the cross, and on the cross now He sits on the throne. I suffered on into adulthood, and afterward, yet I still live, so why not tell my story? I want others to know God is a forgiving god, and all they have to do is repent and depart from their evil and wicked ways. Yes, you can tell what you endured and how God brought you through it. I'm blessed to have made it by the grace and mercy of God. Jesus suffered, and I and others have suffered also. Some didn't live to tell their story, and some couldn't read or write, some could not afford it, and some didn't have the courage. I'm glad gave me the courage. I believe in Him for He cannot lie. God is love, and I plan to live and love forevermore.
