The Passage from Boyhood to Manhood

The Passage from Boyhood to Manhood PDF Author: David R. Grimm
Publisher: iUniverse
ISBN: 1440198772
Category : Family & Relationships
Languages : en
Pages : 66

Book Description
At about the same time in my life that I became a father, I learned the principle that masculinity bestows masculinity. However, since I did not learn this principle until I was almost 40 years old, I grew up struggling mightily in my own masculine identity and maturity. So I also knew from experience how critically important it was for me to fulfill my responsibility in passing along this principle to my two sons, Jonah and Jacob. Therefore, I created a list of seven statements of truth that encompassed what I wanted to teach my sons about becoming and living as a man, an authentic man, the kind of godly man that is described in the Bible. I began telling my sons these truths every night at an early age so they would become engrained in them, as part of their very essence, and my boys would never doubt them. I also spent years preparing for the time when I would elaborate on the full meaning of each truth with my sons, as part of a day of celebration of their entry into manhood. Those years of preparation became this book, which I published to help other fathers (or father-figures/mentors) train their sons (or any boy) how to become a real man. My hope is that this book will be a blessing and an encouragement to every boy who receives it as he enters into (and lives out) authentic manhood.

Miracle

Miracle PDF Author: N. Srinivasa Raghavan
Publisher: Notion Press
ISBN: 1637814216
Category : Young Adult Fiction
Languages : en
Pages : 126

Book Description
Miracle is the fictionalized account of my late nephew, my late brother’s eldest son. He was born with a genetic disorder for which there was no cure. He was a child of great beauty, and more important, beauty of spirit. In the very short time of twelve years that he got to spend with us, he taught us life lessons in unconditional love, friendship, inclusiveness, generosity of spirit, and last but not the least, the power of an effervescent smile. This fictionalized account presents the ten beautiful years that I got to spend with the child, and this association enriched me in mind and spirit. The lessons that he taught us weren’t immediately apparent to us, caught as were in the emotion of the moment, and dealing with our little bundle of joy. Only after he passed away did the full import of the purpose of his life, and the important life lessons he taught us dawned on us, particularly me. The child couldn’t even speak, and this book is an attempt to give a voice to our little angel, and in the process getting to know his perspective. His dramatic reappearance is presented in Part I titled Homecoming, his perspectives in Part II titled Revelations, and his life lessons are presented in Part III of the book titled Gospel. I hope the book enriches the reader in mind and spirit. This book is dedicated to all specially-abled children.

Keeping in Touch with the Other Side

Keeping in Touch with the Other Side PDF Author: Pauline DiBenedetto
Publisher: Christian Faith Publishing, Inc.
ISBN: 1098011155
Category : Biography & Autobiography
Languages : en
Pages : 205

Book Description
Pauline Di Benedetto, who was raised in Brooklyn, New York, and now resides in North Attleborough, Massachusetts, says she received her gift of writing at the age of fifteen. While she was saying her prayers, her words began to rhyme. That was when she knew that writing was her purpose in life. She has written several poems and songs in her life which she shared with her family and friends. Through her trials in life, Pauline felt the need to help others by inspiring them to have faith. She published her first book with us titled, Faith Through the Eyes of a Child which is available on Amazon and can be ordered in any brick-and-mortar stores. Pauline believes this book, Keeping in Touch with the Other Side, is "the one" that was truly "meant to be written." In this book, she has included Bible verses, along with a poem after each chapter, which give an inspirational message. Although she hesitated to write this book, she felt as though she was "pushed" into it when she fell and fractured her foot. That's when she finally "got the message." Although she would like to keep her private life "private," Pauline says that she must follow her "inner spirit." She also states that she didn't write these books alone. She believes "St. Therese" is her ghost writer and guardian angel who guides her through these books and through her life. Is she "right"? Who will be the "judge"?

Endless Miracles

Endless Miracles PDF Author: Jack Ratz
Publisher: Shengold Books
ISBN: 9780884002024
Category : Biography & Autobiography
Languages : en
Pages : 196

Book Description
Memoirs of a Jew born in Riga in 1927. Pp. 19-90 recount his experiences in the Holocaust, including the massacres which took place, with Latvian collaboration, immediately after the German occupation in July 1941. Discusses the large ghetto and the small ghetto, where Ratz was taken with other able-bodied males. The large ghetto was liquidated, with thousands of Riga's Jews, including Ratz's mother and three of his brothers, who were shot in the Rumbuli Forest. Ratz survived the war in the company of his father, spending 17 months in the Lenta labor camp, where the commander, Fritz Scherwitz (or Eleke Sirewitz), was actually a Jew who hid his identity and helped the prisoners. Ratz spent a week in the Salaspils concentration camp and survived two death marches. He was taken by ship to Stutthof and then to the camps of Burggraben and Gotendorf, where he was liberated by the Russians. After the war he emigrated to the U.S., where he aided fellow survivors, e.g. in the Jewish Survivors of Latvia organization, and spoke at many schools.
