The major presentations of the 2017 Unitarian Universalist Association General Assembly (GA) in New Orleans. Addressing the theme “Resist and Rejoice!” this General Assembly, Unitarian Universalists pushed each other to strive for more radical transformation than we’ve ever dared to embrace before. In her foreword, Rev. Susan Frederick-Gray, the first elected woman president of the Unitarian Universalist Association, writes, “I hope that Unitarian Universalists will continue to do the deep work of personal, cultural, and institutional change so that we might be stronger in the work to build the Beloved Community within and beyond our faith. This is our call and our opportunity.” The collection includes the Berry Street Essay, which for the first time was multivocal and featured a panel of speakers including Rev. Dr. Kristen L. Harper, Rev. Mel Hoover, Rev. Ashley Horan, Rev. Dr. Adam Robersmith, and Rev. Marta Valentín; the Sophia Lyon Fahs Lecture by Dr. Robin DiAngelo; the Ware Lecture by Bryan Stevenson; the sermons from the Service of the Living Tradition (Rev. Cheryl M. Two Decades of Legislative Politics and Governance in Nigeria’s National Assembly

Two Decades of Legislative Politics and Governance in Nigeria’s National Assembly PDF Author: Fatai Ayinde Aremu
Publisher: Springer Nature
ISBN: 9813344555
Category : Political Science
Languages : en
Pages : 394

Book Description
This book unpacks two decades of Nigeria’s National Assembly spanning 4th–8th legislative sessions. It focuses on the core areas of legislative functions – lawmaking, appropriation, oversight and representation – in examining the achievements, challenges and prospects of the legislature. This is particularly important because Nigeria being the most populous country in Africa is a crucial bastion of democratic governance in the region. Therefore, conducting deep diagnostics of the federal legislature as the custodian of popular mandate and the anchor of accountability offered immense opportunity for learning that would catalyze further institutional reforms and democratic consolidation.

Assembly Line Balancing under Uncertain Task Time and Demand Volatility

Assembly Line Balancing under Uncertain Task Time and Demand Volatility PDF Author: Yuchen Li
Publisher: Springer Nature
ISBN: 9811942153
Category : Technology & Engineering
Languages : en
Pages : 164

Book Description
This book introduces several mathematical models in assembly line balancing based on stochastic programming and develops exact and heuristic methods to solve them. An assembly line system is a manufacturing process in which parts are added in sequence from workstation to workstation until the final assembly is produced. In an assembly line balancing problem, tasks belonging to different product models are allocated to workstations according to their processing times and precedence relationships among tasks. It incorporates two features, uncertain task times, and demand volatility, separately and simultaneously, into the conventional assembly line balancing model. A real-life case study related to the mask production during the COVID-19 pandemic is presented to illustrate the application of the proposed framework and methodology. The book is intended for graduate students who are interested in combinatorial optimizations in manufacturing with uncertain input.

National Assembly and Legislative Effectiveness in Nigeria’s Fourth Republic

National Assembly and Legislative Effectiveness in Nigeria’s Fourth Republic PDF Author: Adebola Rafiu BAKARE
Publisher: Springer Nature
ISBN: 9819907802
Category : Political Science
Languages : en
Pages : 267

Book Description
This book evaluates the legislative effectiveness of Nigeria’s National Assembly under the Fourth Republic. The assessment covers five Assemblies (4th–8th) and focuses specifically on lawmaking, cost of running the National Assembly, and the budget making process. It empirically assesses the effectiveness of the Nigerian national legislature beyond previous emotional and sentimental evaluations of the institution. It has developed a model ‘Institutional Legislative Effectiveness Score’ used in assessing the institutional performance of the National Assembly from two perspectives: first, by comparing the performances of the two chambers in the same Assembly; and second, by comparing the performances of the institution across Assemblies. Aside lawmaking, the book also covers the major topical issues that characterized public evaluation of the institution. These include: size of the institution, budgeting process, cost of funding the institution, and the debate on the appropriate way in reforming the National Assembly.
