Les divisions labio-alvéolo-palatines ne constituent pas une dysmorphose rare puisqu’en France, un enfant sur 700 en est affecté. Les mécanismes embryopathologiques permettent d’expliquer les retentissements bucco-dentaires de cette malformation congénitale. En effet on note différentes anomalies dentaires dont la prise en charge par le chirurgien dentiste s’inscrit dans une dynamique pluridisciplinaire dès l’éruption des dents lactéales jusqu’à la fin de la croissance. L’incidence de ces anomalies dentaires sur la prévalence de la carie et les maladies parodontales sera traitée. Nous verrons le rôle du chirurgien dentiste dans la prévention dans un premier temps ainsi que les divers exemples de traitement de l’agénésie de l’incisive latérale dans le cas de division labio-maxillo-palatine complète et unilatérale dans un second temps.
