Computational Aeroacoustics

Computational Aeroacoustics PDF Author: Christopher K. W. Tam
Publisher: Cambridge University Press
ISBN: 1139576569
Category : Technology & Engineering
Languages : en
Pages : 497

Book Description
Computational aeroacoustics (CAA) is a relatively new research area. CAA algorithms have developed rapidly and the methods have been applied in many areas of aeroacoustics. The objective of CAA is not simply to develop computational methods but also to use these methods to solve practical aeroacoustics problems and to perform numerical simulation of aeroacoustic phenomena. By analysing the simulation data, an investigator can determine noise generation mechanisms and sound propagation processes. This is both a textbook for graduate students and a reference for researchers in CAA and as such is self-contained. No prior knowledge of numerical methods for solving partial differential equations (PDEs) is needed, however, a general understanding of partial differential equations and basic numerical analysis is assumed. Exercises are included and are designed to be an integral part of the chapter content. In addition, sample computer programs are included to illustrate the implementation of the numerical algorithms.

Systems Factorial Technology

Systems Factorial Technology PDF Author: Daniel Little
Publisher: Academic Press
ISBN: 0128043865
Category : Psychology
Languages : en
Pages : 430

Book Description
Systems Factorial Technology: A Theory Driven Methodology for the Identification of Perceptual and Cognitive Mechanisms explores the theoretical and methodological tools used to investigate fundamental questions central to basic psychological and perceptual processes. Such processes include detection, identification, classification, recognition, and decision-making. This book collects the tools that allow researchers to deal with the pervasive model mimicry problems which exist in standard experimental and theoretical paradigms and includes novel applications to not only basic psychological questions, but also clinical diagnosis and links to neuroscience. Researchers can use this book to begin using the methodology behind SFT and to get an overview of current uses and future directions. The collected developments and applications of SFT allow us to peer inside the human mind and provide strong constraints on psychological theory. - Provides a thorough introduction to the diagnostic tools offered by SFT - Includes a tutorial on applying the method to reaction time data from a variety of different situations - Introduces novel advances for testing the significance of SFT results - Incorporates new measures that allow for the relaxation of the high accuracy criterion - Examines tools to expand the scope of SFT analyses - Applies SFT to a spectrum of different cognitive domains across different sensory modalities

Plasma Chemistry

Plasma Chemistry PDF Author: Lev Solomonovich Polak
Publisher: Cambridge International Science Publishing
ISBN:
Category : Science
Languages : en
Pages : 416

Book Description
The book describes the results of investigations of the electrophysical, chemical, gas-dynamic and other processes in low-temperature plasma, their diagnostics, modelling and application in various areas of science and technology. Special attention is given to the problems associated with physico-chemical processes and chemical reactions in nonequilibrium and (quasi) equilibrium low-temperature plasma. Kinetic and thermodynamic aspects of plasmochemical reactions and their mechanisms, determined mainly by reactions under electron impacts and reactions of vibrationally excited molecules, are discussed.
