Book Description
We consider the problem of optimal allocation of resources (power and bandwidth) between training and data for transmission over a Gauss Markov fading channel. Inaccurate channel state information ((CSI) is available at the receiver through periodic training. The transmitter is assumed to have knowledge of the channel Doppler spread. We compute the ergodic cutoff rate Ro for the temporally-correlated Rayleigh flat fading channels with imperfect channel state information (CSI) available at the receiver. We study MMSE estimators that predict the current channel state based on: all past pilot observations, only the most recent pilot observation, and the most recent and next in the future pilot observations.

Wireless Multi-Antenna Channels

Wireless Multi-Antenna Channels PDF Author: Serguei Primak
Publisher: John Wiley & Sons
ISBN: 111996086X
Category : Technology & Engineering
Languages : en
Pages : 250

Book Description
This book offers a practical guide on how to use and apply channel models for system evaluation In this book, the authors focus on modeling and simulation of multiple antennas channels, including multiple input multiple output (MIMO) communication channels, and the impact of such models on channel estimation and system performance. Both narrowband and wideband models are addressed. Furthermore, the book covers topics related to modeling of MIMO channel, their numerical simulation, estimation and prediction, as well as applications to receive diversity, capacity and space-time coding techniques. Key Features: Contains significant background material, as well as novel research coverage, which make the book suitable for both graduate students and researchers Addresses issues such as key-hole, correlated and non i.i.d. channels in the frame of the Generalized Gaussian approach Provides a unique treatment of generalized Gaussian channels and orthogonal channel representation Reviews different interpretations of scattering environment, including geometrical models Focuses on the analytical techniques which give a good insight into the design of systems on higher levels Describes a number of numerical simulators demonstrating the practical use of this material. Includes an accompanying website containing additional materials and practical examples for self-study This book will be of interest to researchers, engineers, lecturers, and graduate students.

Wireless Communications

Wireless Communications PDF Author: Giorgio A. Vitetta
Publisher: John Wiley & Sons
ISBN: 1118576608
Category : Technology & Engineering
Languages : en
Pages : 849

Book Description
This book introduces the theoretical elements at the basis of various classes of algorithms commonly employed in the physical layer (and, in part, in MAC layer) of wireless communications systems. It focuses on single user systems, so ignoring multiple access techniques. Moreover, emphasis is put on single-input single-output (SISO) systems, although some relevant topics about multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) systems are also illustrated. Comprehensive wireless specific guide to algorithmic techniques Provides a detailed analysis of channel equalization and channel coding for wireless applications Unique conceptual approach focusing in single user systems Covers algebraic decoding, modulation techniques, channel coding and channel equalisation

Wireless Communications

Wireless Communications PDF Author: Andrea Goldsmith
Publisher: Cambridge University Press
ISBN: 1139445847
Category : Technology & Engineering
Languages : en
Pages : 674

Book Description
Wireless technology is a truly revolutionary paradigm shift, enabling multimedia communications between people and devices from any location. It also underpins exciting applications such as sensor networks, smart homes, telemedicine, and automated highways. This book provides a comprehensive introduction to the underlying theory, design techniques and analytical tools of wireless communications, focusing primarily on the core principles of wireless system design. The book begins with an overview of wireless systems and standards. The characteristics of the wireless channel are then described, including their fundamental capacity limits. Various modulation, coding, and signal processing schemes are then discussed in detail, including state-of-the-art adaptive modulation, multicarrier, spread spectrum, and multiple antenna techniques. The concluding chapters deal with multiuser communications, cellular system design, and ad-hoc network design. Design insights and tradeoffs are emphasized throughout the book. It contains many worked examples, over 200 figures, almost 300 homework exercises, over 700 references, and is an ideal textbook for students.
