Theoretical Chemistry

Theoretical Chemistry PDF Author: R N Dixon
Publisher: Royal Society of Chemistry
ISBN: 1847557120
Category : Science
Languages : en
Pages : 171

Book Description
Specialist Periodical Reports provide systematic and detailed review coverage of progress in the major areas of chemical research. Written by experts in their specialist fields the series creates a unique service for the active research chemist, supplying regular critical in-depth accounts of progress in particular areas of chemistry. For over 90 years The Royal Society of Chemistry and its predecessor, the Chemical Society, have been publishing reports charting developments in chemistry, which originally took the form of Annual Reports. However, by 1967 the whole spectrum of chemistry could no longer be contained within one volume and the series Specialist Periodical Reports was born. The Annual Reports themselves still existed but were divided into two, and subsequently three, volumes covering Inorganic, Organic and Physical Chemistry. For more general coverage of the highlights in chemistry they remain a 'must'. Since that time the SPR series has altered according to the fluctuating degree of activity in various fields of chemistry. Some titles have remained unchanged, while others have altered their emphasis along with their titles; some have been combined under a new name whereas others have had to be discontinued. The current list of Specialist Periodical Reports can be seen on the inside flap of this volume.

Polyatomic Molecules

Polyatomic Molecules PDF Author: Robert S. Mulliken
Publisher: Elsevier
ISBN: 0323149944
Category : Science
Languages : en
Pages : 448

Book Description
Polyatomic Molecules: Results of Ab Initio Calculations describes the symmetry of polyatomic molecules in ground states. This book contains 12 chapters that also cover the excited and ionized states of these molecules. The opening chapter describes the nature of the various ab initio computational methods. The subsequent four chapters deal with the three-atom systems, differing with respect to the number of hydrogen atoms in the molecules. These chapters also discuss the reaction surfaces of these systems. These topics are followed by discussions on the molecules whose ground states belong to relatively high, little or no symmetry groups. The concluding chapters explore the inorganic and relatively large organic molecules. These chapters also examine the ab initio calculations of molecular compounds and complexes, as well as hydrogen bonding and ion hydration. This text will be of great value to organic and inorganic chemists and physicists.

Applications of Electronic Structure Theory

Applications of Electronic Structure Theory PDF Author: Henry Schaefer
Publisher: Springer Science & Business Media
ISBN: 1468485415
Category : Science
Languages : en
Pages : 470

Book Description
These two volumes deal with the quantum theory of the electronic structure of ab initio is the notion that approximate solutions molecules. Implicit in the term of Schrodinger's equation are sought "from the beginning," i. e. , without recourse to experimental data. From a more pragmatic viewpoint, the distin guishing feature of ab initio theory is usually the fact that no approximations are involved in the evaluation of the required molecular integrals. Consistent with current activity in the field, the first of these two volumes contains chapters dealing with methods per se, while the second concerns the application of these methods to problems of chemical interest. In a sense, the motivation for these volumes has been the spectacular recent success of ab initio theory in resolving important chemical questions. However, these applications have only become possible through the less visible but equally important efforts of those developing new theoretical and computational methods and models. Henry F. Book Description
Relativistic effects are of major importance for understan- ding the properties of heavier atoms and molecules. This book is still the only comprehensive bibliography on related calculations. The material is organized by subject into ta- bles containing a concise characterization. Together with Volume I (Lecture Notes in Chemistry Vol. 41, ISBN 3-540-17167-3) the literature until 1992 is now covered and 6577 references, with titles, are given in the two books. The book will provide aconvenient reference for theoretical chemists and atomic and molecular physicists interested in the properties of heavier elements. Contents: Introduction - One-particle problems - Quantum electrodynamical effects - Multielectron atoms: methods - Multielectron atoms: results - Symmetry - Molecular calcula- tions - Solid-state theory - Relativistic effects and heavy- element chemistry - Corrections to Volume I - Some comments on notations and terminology - List of acronyms and symbols - Bibliography.

Reviews in Computational Chemistry, Volume 17

Reviews in Computational Chemistry, Volume 17 PDF Author: Kenny B. Lipkowitz
Publisher: John Wiley & Sons
ISBN: 0471458813
Category : Science
Languages : en
Pages : 431

Book Description
Computational chemistry is increasingly used in most areas of molecular science including organic, inorganic, medicinal, biological, physical, and analytical chemistry. Researchers in these fields who do molecular modelling need to understand and stay current with recent developments. This volume, like those prior to it, features chapters by experts in various fields of computational chemistry. Two chapters focus on molecular docking, one of which relates to drug discovery and cheminformatics and the other to proteomics. In addition, this volume contains tutorials on spin-orbit coupling and cellular automata modeling, as well as an extensive bibliography of computational chemistry books. FROM REVIEWS OF THE SERIES "Reviews in Computational Chemistry remains the most valuable reference to methods and techniques in computational chemistry."—JOURNAL OF MOLECULAR GRAPHICS AND MODELLING "One cannot generally do better than to try to find an appropriate article in the highly successful Reviews in Computational Chemistry. The basic philosophy of the editors seems to be to help the authors produce chapters that are complete, accurate, clear, and accessible to experimentalists (in particular) and other nonspecialists (in general)."—JOURNAL OF THE AMERICAN CHEMICAL SOCIETY
