Guns to God

Guns to God PDF Author: Claud Jackson
Publisher: SPCK
ISBN: 0281084955
Category : Biography & Autobiography
Languages : en
Pages : 151

Book Description
Claud was just six years old when he first held a gun in his hands. Now, over twenty years later, he is returning to communities just like the one he grew up in, this time holding a Bible. Guns to God is the incredible autobiography of Claud Jackson, a young boy who became a drug dealer and professional criminal before giving his life to God through the Alpha Course and later being called to become a Christian minister. Though exceptional in parts, Claud's journey is remarkably relatable: it is one of being shaped by circumstance and formed through faith, of losing yourself only to be found. Guns to God is an inspiring and thought-provoking Christian autobiography for anyone wanting a stronger understanding of and insight into the struggle against drugs and drug dealing in urban communities in the UK, and the role that the Christian faith has to play. The story of one man's search for belonging, this an incredible and moving testament to the life-changing power of God.

Deliverance

Deliverance PDF Author: Jon Thompson

Book Description
Welcome to Deliverance-a theological and experiential journey in dealing with evil so people can be set free to live as Jesus promised. "Jon Thompson has become a leading voice on deliverance ministry, especially those of us facing a rise in demonic manifestations in secular cities. Jon has been beyond helpful-wise, experienced, thoughtful, biblical, and deeply prophetic." -- John Mark Comer, Pastor of Bridgetown Church and author of The Ruthless Elimination of Hurry "Following on the heels of his dynamite Convergence, Jon Thompson now tackles the huge issue of deliverance. I have read a lot on this subject throughout the fifty years I have been in ministry, but nothing is as comprehensive, as Biblically and theologically thorough, and as practically accessible as Deliverance. Bible-book by Bible-book, Jon leads us through the truth about the ministry of deliverance. And then step-by-step, Jon walks us into the nitty-gritty dynamics of such ministry in the local church. Would that this book had been available the last few decades. Thank God it is available now!" -- Darrell Johnson, Teaching Fellow at Regent College and author of Discipleship on the Edge and The Glory of Preaching "This is an amazing resource around topics many would rather avoid but which is as real as anything else we face today in ministry. Jon has done a great job laying out the theological/biblical teachings on the demonic and spiritual realm and the practical/pragmatic realities from years of actual on-the-ground practical ministry. This book will serve you so well as a Christian, a leader, or just someone interested in this extremely important topic." -- Mark Clark, Senior Pastor of Village Church and author of The Problem of God and The Problem of Jesus ---- Most Christians would agree that we are the only ones on earth equipped to help our family, friends, and neighbours when it comes to supernatural evil. Or at least we say we believe it. We say "yes" intellectually, but when it comes to actually dealing with evil, many of us are afraid and feel out of our depth. What does the Bible really say about the demonic? How did Christians deal with this in various cultures over 2000 years? Do we even need this conversation? For pastor and theologian, Jon Thompson, this has been a journey more than 20 years in the making as he and his church found themselves working through how to help desperate people and still remain rooted in Scripture. In this book, Jon will lead you on a journey through the pages of Scripture and the experiences of Christians throughout the centuries as he outlines what has always been universally applicable when dealing with evil and what must be adapted to fit our different churches and cultures. Topics include: The Scriptural basis for deliverance Deliverance throughout church history An explanation of spiritual authority The role of spiritual gifts in deliverance ministry An evaluation of the five major deliverance models Outline of a mixed model approach to deliverance No matter our history, theology, bias, pain, or disbelief, we all need to engage in this conversation because there are people all around us who desperately need to be set free to live as Jesus promised. About the Author: Jon Thompson is the Senior Pastor of Sanctus Church, a multi-site church of over 3,000 people in the Greater Toronto Area where he has been on staff for more than 20 years. Under Jon's leadership, Sanctus is characterized by dynamic Biblical teaching, vibrant community groups, compelling media, and powerful times in worship. Jon has a Master of Theological Studies from Tyndale Seminary and a Doctorate of Missiology from Fuller Seminary.

Back To Basics

Back To Basics PDF Author: Sophia Gunter

Pages : 102

Book Description
The BiBle, theWord of God, says they overcame by the blood of the lamb and the word of their testimony. This book is about my testimony. Revelations 12:11: And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death. This book looks into how, Prayer, The Holy Spirit, Baptism, The Word Of God, The Name of Jesus, Holiness and the full armour of God are a basic necessity for every believer and how they help through their journey with God including deliverance. This book is about my experience of deliverance from a counterfeit church and finding home in a true, genuine church. May God give you a testimony in the Name of Jesus. This book is also a cry out to churches not to be the church that passively or ignorantly or indirectly fuels and energises the activities of wolves in sheep's clothing. It's a callout to churches and individuals to refuse to create loopholes that make it easier for wolves in sheep's clothing to deceive those seeking God. It's also an eye-opener to those that have fallen into the tricks and traps of wolves in sheep's clothing. I am one of those that were genuinely seeking God but found myself falling for the deception of wolves in sheep's clothing. I was easily deceived because of the influence of misleading church practices and concepts that have become the norm and have become acceptable, but are not fully Biblical. Because of these misleading concepts and practices in some churches today, I thought I knew the Lord. I thought I knew what a genuine church looks like. I thought I knew what genuine Christian practices and concepts were. I was easily deceived because, as a believer, I didn't fully understand true Christian doctrine. I had a basic understanding of Jesus. I had a basic understanding of God the Father, Christ the Son, and the Holy Spirit. I knew God is one but didn't fully understand the concept of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit and their roles thereof. I had a basic understanding of the Name of Jesus but didn't understand the application of the Name of Jesus versus the titles-the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. I had a general understanding of baptism, prayer, the Holy Spirit, the Word of God, and other general concepts. This general understanding is what wolves in sheep's clothing take advantage of. This general understanding is what counterfeit churches take advantage of. This general understanding, makes believers, both new and those that are ignorant like I was, to get the sense that these principles are the same among different churches, including counterfeit churches led by wolves in sheep's clothing. The reason I'm stating this, is to show how easy it is for an individual to fall into the traps of wolves in sheep's clothing. If I could get deceived-bearing in mind that I had a basic understanding of Christianity and bearing in mind that I was genuinely looking for God with all my heart and that I spent a bit of time in church and thought I knew God but actually didn't really know God-how much more easier is it for someone who doesn't even have a basic understanding of Christianity to fall into the traps of wolves in sheep's clothing? God is Spirit. Satan is spirit. Angels are ministering spirits. Demons are spirits. So how do you identify the spirit of God versus the spirit of the devil? This book gives an insight into that.

1885-1914. Mary Fields, a fifty-three-year old second-generation slave, emancipated and residing in Toledo, receives news of her friend's impending death. Remedies packed in her satchel, Mary rushes to board the Northern Pacific. She arrives in the Montana wilderness to find Mother Mary Amadeus lying on frozen earth in a broken-down cabin.
