Book Description
I have but one lamp by which my feet are guided, and that is the lamp of experience. I know no way of judging the future but by its past. ""Patrick Henry (Founding Father), Virginia, March 23, 1775 In the final chapter of The Riley Cooper Series of Hope, the plague that ravaged the world of human life still has no cure. Survivors have fled the cities in the hopes of not becoming its next prey. In their dire need to save themselves, many survivors became victims to false saviors that have resurrected some of history's worst practices. The murder of a dear friend flips Riley's world upside down. Frightened that the rest of the team being held hostage will succumb to the same fate, she, along with her family and friends, sets out to get them back. What they find is far beyond anything any of them could have imagined. Though Jackson, Wyoming, has become a beacon of hope for many, obstruction and hardship caused by others has planted the seed of doubt in the minds of some survivors. But Divine Providence has reminded Riley of His promise: "The day of tyranny has returned, but God has heard the cry of His people and has given them hope. That hope today, my friends, is us!" (Riley Cooper).

Paris Climate Agreement

Paris Climate Agreement PDF Author: Ross J Salawitch
Publisher:
ISBN: 9781013268076
Category : Political Science
Languages : en
Pages : 198

Book Description
This volume presents an Empirical Model of Global Climate developed by the authors and uses that model to show that global warming will likely remain below 2°C, relative to preindustrial, throughout this century provided: a) both the unconditional and conditional Paris INDC commitments are followed; b) the emission reductions needed to achieve the Paris INDCs are carried forward to 2060 and beyond. The first section of the book provides a short overview of Earth's climate system, describing and contrasting climatic changes throughout the planet's history and anthropogenic changes post-Industrial Revolution. The second section describes the climate model developed by the authors (Canty et al., Atmospheric Chemistry and Physics, 2013) and contrasts the model with climate models used in the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) 2013 Report. Chapter 3 examines both the unconditional (i.e., firm commitments) and conditional Paris INDCs (commitments contingent on financial flow and/or technology transfer) through the lens of their climate model and concludes that if all of the Paris INDCs are followed, then they are indeed a beacon of hope for Earth's climate. The fourth part of the book offers a perspective of energy needs and subsequent emissions reductions required to meet the Paris temperature goals, illuminating challenges faced both in the developing world and the developed world.Throughout the book, easy-to-understand charts and graphics illustrate concepts. The scientific basis of Chapters 2 and 3 was first presented in a keynote session of the 96th Annual Meeting of the American Meteorological Society in January, 2016. Be a Beacon of Hope in the World

Be a Beacon of Hope in the World PDF Author: John Aduma
Publisher: Austin Macauley Publishers
ISBN: 1528918398
Category : Young Adult Nonfiction
Languages : en
Pages : 93

Book Description
Why does one youngster stab another with a knife which they will never, ever dare to stab themselves with? Why are our young people killing themselves without thinking of the pains and sorrow such barbarism and bestiality will leave their loved ones with for the rest of their lives? Why do some young persons—members of the same community—prey on one another with such jungle-like ferocity in the nation’s cities? Why are there now so many of such gruesome, purposeless, wicked and unwarranted killings in the nation’s cities as if Britain is now a land that devours its children? More worrisome is the fact that when they are hacked to death so young, what happens to their dreams, visions, goals and aspirations? Heart-rending as these painful questions are, Be a Beacon of Hope in the World: A Message to Young Britain does not attempt to offer answers to these puzzles arising from the untimely deaths of Britain’s children through knifings. However, it seeks to act as a guidepost, compass and a Sat Nav to point young persons in the right direction and on the path of civility, decency, common sense, humaneness and universal altruism, whereupon they are expected to have respect: for themselves, for others and for all of life’s forms. Therefore, let the alarm bell, which this book will trigger, warn all young persons in Britain and the world over that to live in the fast lane is to die young. Let this message reverberate through the vista of time.
