Think again. It doesn't matter that his blue eyes look straight into my soul, or that his touch melts my icy reserve. It doesn't even matter that past all that swagger, there's a beautiful, damaged man who has so much to offer beyond private planes and jewelry boxes. But I had a plan: no falling in love. I just have to convince myself.

Book Description
"Did you know your dress makes you look like a Pepto Bismol bottle?" Those were the first words he said to me when we met at six years old. I should have known then and there that the asshole would break my heart. But dumb me, I made him my best friend instead. For as long as I can remember, it was Sassy and Macy against the world. We were eight when I asked him to be my husband and promised to never slip him the tongue like my mom and dad did when they kissed. Nine, when I discovered that the Monster under his bed was very real and that we had to hide from it whenever it came home. And sixteen when we were tragically separated à la Romeo and Juliet (well, minus the dying part). So what do I do to mend our friendship? I accepted a dance scholarship at the prestigious Elite Preparatory Academy, a school for the ultra-rich, to be close to him. But my reunion with the boy I left behind doesn't go according to plan. For one thing, Mason Winthrop isn't a kid anymore. He is a sexy six-foot-tall tattooed MMA fighter with dark hair and glacier eyes. And two, Mace isn't happy to see me. At. All. Granted, it would have helped if I hadn't kicked him in the balls, but the jerk had it coming. Believe me! Will we be able to overcome our differences and pick up where we left off amid all the high school angst and drama? Or will the Monster keeping the beautiful boy trapped in a golden cage win the war after all? My name is Saskia Kir. And this is my story. This is a new adult book that is part of a duet and is not standalone. It contains situations and language that some readers might find offensive and/or triggering.

The Connected Discourses of the Buddha

The Connected Discourses of the Buddha PDF Author:
Publisher: Simon and Schuster
ISBN: 0861719735
Category : Religion
Languages : en
Pages : 2082

Book Description
This volume offers a complete translation of the Samyutta Nikaya, The Connected Discourses of the Buddha, the third of the four great collections in the Sutta Pitaka of the Pali Canon. The Samyutta Nikaya consists of fifty-six chapters, each governed by a unifying theme that binds together the Buddha's suttas or discourses. The chapters are organized into five major parts. The first, The Book with Verses, is a compilation of suttas composed largely in verse. This book ranks as one of the most inspiring compilations in the Buddhist canon, showing the Buddha in his full grandeur as the peerless "teacher of gods and humans." The other four books deal in depth with the philosophical principles and meditative structures of early Buddhism. They combine into orderly chapters all the important short discourses of the Buddha on such major topics as dependent origination, the five aggregates, the six sense bases, the seven factors of enlightenment, the Noble Eightfold Path, and the Four Noble Truths. Among the four large Nikayas belonging to the Pali Canon, the Samyutta Nikaya serves as the repository for the many shorter suttas of the Buddha where he discloses his radical insights into the nature of reality and his unique path to spiritual emancipation. This collection, it seems, was directed mainly at those disciples who were capable of grasping the deepest dimensions of wisdom and of clarifying them for others, and also provided guidance to meditators intent on consummating their efforts with the direct realization of the ultimate truth. The present work begins with an insightful general introduction to the Samyutta Nikaya as a whole. Each of the five parts is also provided with its own introduction, intended to guide the reader through this vast, ocean-like collection of suttas. To further assist the reader, the translator has provided an extensive body of notes clarifying various problems concerning both the language and the mean

Book Description
Rather than presenting a reverse list of words in endless sequence and strictly alphabetical order, this Reverse English Dictionary considers the structure and formation of words, grouping them together in sections and subdivisions. This way of looking at words from behind and comparing similar word endings reveals new and unaccustomed aspects of the structure of words and their formation, illustrating the enormous variety of the English language.

Letters of Louis D. Brandeis: Volume IV, 1916-1921

Letters of Louis D. Brandeis: Volume IV, 1916-1921 PDF Author: Louis Dembitz Brandeis
Publisher: SUNY Press
ISBN: 9780873952972
Category : Political Science
Languages : en
Pages : 624

Book Description
During his long career of public service, first as a reform-minded lawyer and later as an associate justice of the Supreme Court of the United States, Louis Dembitz Brandeis (1856-1941) had a profound influence upon American life in this century. In the words of Max Lerner: "Years from now, when historians can look back and put our time into perspective, they will say that one of its towering figures--more truly great than generals and diplomats, business giants and labor giants, bigger than most of our presidents--was a man called Brandeis." Other respected authorities have asserted that, except for John Marshall and Oliver Wendell Holmes, no jurist has exerted so broad and enduring influence upon American jurisprudence as Brandeis. Now assembled for the first time and planned for publication in a five-volume series are the Brandeis letters. In Vol. 1, (1870-1907): Urban Reformer, are letters written by Brandeis during his first years as a lawyer and social activist. They illuminate, in a day to day way, seemingly small areas of social action which are rarely documented and are so often lost in historical haze. They show what liberal reformers were thinking and doing in the Progressive Era and reveal the techniques, tactics, and strategies they employed in working within the system to find solutions to the human and urban problems of their day. In the process, they focus on many problems of contemporary concern and furnish insights into ways of organizing citizen pressure to effect social change.
