Book Description
To Change your Position you must first change your Location. Those of us who are parents are fascinated when our children begin to Creep, Stand, take the first Steps on watery legs, then Walk and later Run. Every normal baby follow this pattern, from a horizontal posture to a vertical position. Our Creator has placed in all of us this drive, (or some may call it instinct) to change our position, from a sleeping posture to creeping, then sitting, then standing, then walking and then running. I would like to introduce another position to you and that is 'CLIMBING.' This will take some effort on your part, but our God said He will give you the strength and energy to do it because He wants you to come to Him to take you where you ought to be irrespective of your past and present circumstances because where you are may not be where you should be.. I was born on a small island in the Caribbean called St Vincent. Being the seventh child of a family of fifteen and a father who was a brick layer opportunities were non existent. Yet even though poverty was my stay I dreamed every night I am wearing white clothes. For a time I thought this means I am going to be a medical doctor so I studied hard and my parents ask an uncle who was living in England to help in sending me to the only secondary school in that part of the island. I was on my way to become a doctor because those white clothes burn within my soul. I never became a doctor and when Jesus called me the third time I left everything behind and followed him. When I met him He had this beautiful and spotless white robe waiting for me.

Book Description
If God is in control of everything, can Christians sit back and not bother to evangelize? Or does active evangelism imply that God is not really sovereign at all? J. I. Packer shows in this classic study how both of these attitudes are false.

Three Views on the New Testament Use of the Old Testament
Author: Zondervan,
Publisher: Zondervan Academic
ISBN: 0310590515
Category : Religion
Languages : en
Pages : 257
Book Description
Three approaches to questions about the theological connection between the Old and New Testaments. The relationship between the Testaments is not as simple and straightforward as it sometimes appears. When New Testament authors appeal to Old Testament texts to support their arguments, what is the relationship between their meanings and what was originally intended by their Old Testament forebears? Leading biblical scholars Walter Kaiser, Darrel Bock, and Peter Enns present their answers to questions about the use of the Old Testament in the New Testament, addressing elements such as: Divine and human authorial intent. Context of passages. Historical and cultural considerations. The theological grounds for different interpretive methods. Each author applies his framework to specific texts so that readers can see how their methods work out in practice. Each contributor also receives a thorough critique from the other two authors. Three Views on the New Testament Use of Old Testament gives readers the tools they need to develop their own views on the meaning, contexts, and goals behind the New Testament citations of the Old. The Counterpoints series presents a comparison and critique of scholarly views on topics important to Christians that are both fair-minded and respectful of the biblical text. Each volume is a one-stop reference that allows readers to evaluate the different positions on a specific issue and form their own, educated opinion.

Suffering and the Heart of God
Author: Diane Langberg
Publisher: New Growth Press
ISBN: 1942572034
Category : Religion
Languages : en
Pages : 316
Book Description
She's seen slave dungeons in Ghana. Genocide in Rwanda. Systemic sexual abuse in Brazil. Child abuse and domestic violence in the US. After forty years of counseling abuse survivors around the world, Dr. Diane Langberg, a world renowned trauma expert, remains certain that what trauma destroys, Christ can and does restore. This book will convince you, too, of the healing heart of God. But it's not a fast process, instead much patience is required from family, friends, and counselors as they wisely and respectfully help victims unpack their traumatic suffering through talking, tears, and time. And it's not a process that can be separated from the work of God in both a counselor and counselee. Dr. Langberg calls all of those who wish to help sufferers to model Jesus's sacrificial love and care in how they listen, love, and guide. The heart of God is revealed to sufferers as they grow to understand the cross of Christ and how their God came to this earth and experienced such severe suffering that he too is "well-acquainted with grief." The cross of Christ is the lens that transforms and redeems traumatic suffering and its aftermath, not only for the sufferer, but it also transforms those who walk with the suffering. This book will be a great help to anyone who loves, listens to, and seeks to help someone impacted by trauma and abuse. There is no quick fix, but there is the hope for healing through the love of God in Christ.

Empowering the People of God
Author: Christopher D. Denny
Publisher: Fordham Univ Press
ISBN: 0823254011
Category : Religion
Languages : en
Pages : 408
Book Description
The early 1960s were a heady time for Catholic laypeople. Pope Pius XII’s assurance “You do not belong to the Church. You are the Church” emboldened the laity to challenge Church authority in ways previously considered unthinkable. Empowering the People of God offers a fresh look at the Catholic laity and its relationship with the hierarchy in the period immediately preceding the Second Vatican Council and in the turbulent era that followed. This collection of essays explores a diverse assortment of manifestations of Catholic action, ranging from genteel reform to radical activism, and an equally wide variety of locales, apostolates, and movements.
