Excerpt from Year Book of the Canton Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution, 1909-1911: Officers and Members, Calendar, by-Laws Section 2. The preliminary application paper of a proposed candi date must be sent to the Registrar by the applicant. The Registrar shall present the name to the Board of Management. Election by the Board of Management must be by ballot, and three negative votes shall defeat the election. The details of such vote and the name of a defeated candidate shall forever be kept secret by the members of the Board. If elected, application blanks to the National Society shall then be furnished by the Registrar. These blanks must be filled out in duplicate, signed by the two members who have endorsed the appli cant, and returned to the Registrar, accompanied by the entrance fee and the dues for the current year. If the Registrar finds the papers properly filled out, they must then be signed by the Regent, Secretary and Registrar, and transmitted by the Registrar to the Registrar General for the approval Of the National Board of Management. The applicant must be duly notified by the Registrar of the action taken upon her papers. Applications shall not be endorsed by any of the Officers or members of the Board of Management, providing the mem hership Of the Chapter exceeds twenty-five. Section 3. A member of. The National Society not having belonged to any other Chapter, must be endorsed by two members Of the Can ton Chapter, and must send her endorsed application to the Registrar She must be elected by the Board of Management as any other applicant. Section 4. An applicant who is already a member Of a Chapter. Must send to the Registrar the formal transfer card, as prescribed by the National Society, endorsed by one member Of the Canton Chapter, and accompanied by a copy of her membership papers.
