The Planning Game

The Planning Game PDF Author: Alex Lord
Publisher: Routledge
ISBN: 1136462570
Category : Architecture
Languages : en
Pages : 210

Book Description
Trading information is an essential aspect of the negotiations that underpin planning practice across the globe. In this book, Alex Lord uses information economics to outline a way of thinking about these negotiations that places the strategies that actors in the planning game use at the heart of the debate. Dialogue between economics and planning theorists has been, until now, rare. Lord argues that information economics’ tool kit, game theory – including well-known examples such as the Prisoners’ Dilemma, the Stag Hunt game and Follow the Leader – offers an analytical framework ideally suited to unpacking planning processes. This use of game theory to understand how counterparties interact draws together two distinct bodies of literature: firstly the mainstream economics treatment of games in abstract form and, secondly, accounts of actual bargaining in planning practice from a host of international empirical studies. Providing a novel alternative to existing theories of planning, The Planning Game provides an explanation of how agencies interact in shaping the trajectory of development through the application of game theory to planning practice.

Sin Eaters

Sin Eaters PDF Author: Caleb Tankersley
Publisher: University of Alaska Press
ISBN: 1602234523
Category : Fiction
Languages : en
Pages : 185

Book Description
Winner of the 2021 Permafrost Prize in fiction Magical, heartfelt, and surprisingly funny, Sin Eaters paints a tumultuous picture of religion and repression while hinting at the love and connection that come with healing. The powerful stories in Caleb Tankersley’s debut collection illuminate the shadowy edges of the American Midwest, featuring aspects of religion, sex and desire, monsters and magic, and humor. Tankersley’s characters—including swamp creatures looking for love, pothead pastors, ghosts obsessed with TV, and a Jesus made of rust—arrive at the crossroads of pleasure and hunger in a world that is equal parts playful, hopeful, and dark. In “Never Been More in Love” a man must come to terms with his wife’s degenerative illness. “Uncle Bob” explores suicide attempts as a family heirloom. And the titular story follows a woman who must accept her monstrous role to find redemption for herself and her small town. Sin Eaters is a fight for authenticity in a world that is mysterious, muggy, and punctured by violence. This stunning collection full of complex themes will both challenge and delight.

Grandpa’s Rocking Chair

Grandpa’s Rocking Chair PDF Author: Vern Schultz
Publisher: AuthorHouse
ISBN: 1546232435
Category : Biography & Autobiography
Languages : en
Pages : 157

Book Description
The year 1929 was devastating for America. It was the beginning of the Great Depression, which led to our country’s economic collapse. The author, also born in 1929, lived through those challenging Depression years, experiencing firsthand the many adaptations and sacrifices needed to survive those trying times. Now some eighty-eight years later, the author looks back to review those key principles that helped folks survive those challenging 1930s. Although the times we are living in today are radically different than in those Depression years, the author holds to the belief that if these same key principles are followed by America’s working class today, they will be more successful in meeting the challenge of our ever-changing, complex society. This book offers some suggested guides that should aid today’s workers in achieving increased financial independence by following these same key principles, with grandpa’s retirement rocking chair as the goal!

Publisher: Xlibris Corporation
ISBN:
Category : Fiction
Languages : en

Book Description
You’ve been told a lie, what you know about grandparents is wrong, problematic at its best. Under the duress of traumatic stress, I tried to kill a black cat-crazy-evil on purpose. Yet, it tried to kill me first! Babysitting gigs went everywhere other than smooth. Each day was a “War Zone.” Dracula just showed up on the regular without even a knock on the door before I could invite him in. Neighbors walked around looking like “Zombies” of an unknown planet. Dogs and chickens are humongously gigantic, they tried to eat me/my whole family. My prayers to God is the only thing that saved my life.
