Excerpt from Flue-Cured Tobacco Production Costs The average cost of producing flue - cured tobacco, excluding land and quota, was estimated at per acre or $85 per 100 pounds in 1979. The cost was per acre and $121 per 100 pounds when land and quota values were included, based on average net share rent paid.
