Book Description
Only a daring heist will save them. Aaliyah is the most powerful psychic alive, strong enough to twist the fabric of space time. But even Aaliyah is caught wrong-footed when powerful sorcerers of the Society of the Golden Mean are killed simultaneously by mysterious supernatural assassinations. A traitor has stolen magical artifacts, and is now using these arcane items to kill. She needs a powerful mage to help her retrieve these priceless relics—but who among the few survivors can she trust? When Morgan gets an opportunity to work at a mysterious occult retreat, she thinks it’s an opportunity to learn the blood magic Kit refuses to teach her. As Morgan explores the subterranean plot, she learns secrets her new employers would kill to keep quiet. But Morgan is determined to steal their treasure for herself, and her ambitions will not be deterred by other thieves getting in her way. Kit and Aaliyah plan a complicated heist to infiltrate the wizards’ bunker and recover the enchanted antiques that enabled this assault. But bad luck plagues their every move. Their meticulous planning hadn’t accounted for a traitor destroying their escape route. Can they survive the betrayal and get home again? Wizard’s Bunker is book eleven in the Kit Melbourne series. If you like heists with double-crossing and plenty of action, then you’ll love Kater Cheek’s thrilling caper. Buy Wizard’s Bunker to steal your own magical treasure.

Book Description
While we were trained to be soldiers and I witnessed acts of bravery every day, we were still part of our generation; and our generation was closing down universities, protesting, and generally fucking up the country. Our country was as divided as it hadnt been since the Civil War. Us? We as soldiers were conflicted, torn between a culture that included everyone that you ever knew and the brothers that we served with. We grew our hair to the military limit, listened to music, carried on a personal protest about something or the other, and smoked pot. Racism was part of the inhuman view of our adversaries. Just as our fathers had called their enemies Japs and Krauts, we called ours Gooks. So the influence on eighteen-, nineteen-, and twenty-year-olds was kind of warped, especially if you spent most of your time in the bush. While I plead guilty of all of those things at eighteen, they are not what I became or what my returning brothers and sisters became. Every soldier has a story to tell, each with differ nuances, but the overall experience and attitudes were about the same. I saw bravery and craziness in every possible way. The bottom line, in my humble opinion, is that truth is stranger than fiction. While this account is fictional, the events are not. In truth, I dont do justice to what I observed and was a part of.

When Nothing Else Matters
Author: Michael Leahy
Publisher: Simon and Schuster
ISBN: 1471108597
Category : Sports & Recreation
Languages : en
Pages : 477
Book Description
As one of the greatest, most celebrated athletes in history, Michael Jordan conquered professional basketball as no one before. Powered by a potent mix of charisma, near superhuman abilities and a ferocious drive to dominate the game, he achieved every award and accolade conceivable before retiring from the Chicago Bulls and taking an executive post with the Washington Wizards. But retirement didn't suit the man who was once king, and at the advanced age of thirty-eight Michael Jordan decided it was time to reclaim the court that was once his. WHEN NOTHING ELSE MATTERS is the definitive account of Jordan's equally spectacular and disastrous return to basketball. Having closely followed Jordan's final two seasons, Michael Leahy draws a fascinating portrait of an intensely complex man hampered by injuries and assaulted by younger players eager to usurp his throne. In this enthralling book Jordan emerges as an ambitious, at times deeply unattractive character with, unsurprisingly, a monstrous ego. WHEN NOTHING ELSE MATTERS is an absorbing portrait not only of one athlete's overriding ambition, but also of a society so in thrall to its sports stars that it is blind to all their faults.

Wizard of the Two Niles
Author: Mohamed A. Eno
Publisher: Trafford Publishing
ISBN: 1490756760
Category : Poetry
Languages : en
Pages : 48
Book Description
In these poems, the imaginary peculiar and the experiences lived comingle in versatile rhythms and rhymes. Whether the anthological presentation of the imaginary or the demonstration of the experiences, or whether both were coincidental is a matter for readers to decide, drawing their own perceptions of yet another imaginary tale in which the narrative leads them rather than the narrator. This is because some of the narratives exhibited here are indeed unusual and would require a great deal of patience on the part of the reader to separate what was the original imaginary and what has been encountered as peculiar experience that had disturbed the narrator prior to the narration of the odd encounter. On the other hand, the complex world of experience has a variety of underpinning factors: Is the experience in question a lived one? Is it a seen or witnessed reality? Does it relate to the imagery and imagination of the narrator, writer, author, etc.? Are the observations through the imagination and the subjects of the imagery metaphorical? Or is the experience an authorial portrayal of a social reality shared or witnessed by others? These, in my opinion, offer a reflection of how a reader-decoder will interpret the poetic narratives expressed in the verses and at their disposal. The aim, as Ive done here, is to present to the reader what to reflect on, and the type of reflection, the quality of meaning to be made out of the narrative and narration, is to be left to the reader. This is what I have done in many of the poems in this collection.
