Particularly has this been the case in the endeavour to ascertain how a name. Or title is pronounced. In many scores of instances the Editor has this year pointedly put the question as to whether a given utterance ought to be this or that and far too often, though happily not nearly always, the request has been absolutely ignored. We presume that it must, be prod voking to a titled person to hear his designation mispronounced; then why Will hefnot assist the effort towards putting the annoyance out of his way? Several amateurs from time to time have pressed us with their own accustomed methods, and in some cases they have been right, but in others egregiously Wrong. For the future we must restrict our acceptance of their statements to persons who can assert acquaintance with the families themselves.
