Book Description
Were the biblical Adam and Eve historical figures, or are the early events described in Genesis primarily symbolic in nature? Behind the debate of a historical Adam is the age-old debate about evolution and the agreement between Scripture and science. With an introduction that outlines the history and main points of every viewpoint from Darwinism to Young Earth Creationism, this book then clearly outlines four primary views on Adam held by evangelical Christians. Contributors include Denis O. Lamoureux, John H. Walton, C. John Collins, and William Barrick. Each focuses his essay on answering the following questions: What is the biblical case for your viewpoint, and how do you reconcile it both with modern science and with passages and potential interpretations that seem to counter it? In what ways is your view more theologically consistent and coherent than other views? What are the implications of your view for the spiritual life and public witness of the church and individual believers, and how is your view a healthier alternative for both? This book allows each contributor to not only present the case for his view, but also to critique and respond to the critiques of the other contributors, allowing you to compare their beliefs in an open forum setting to see where they overlap and where they differ. Concluding reflections by pastor-scholars Gregory A. Boyd and Philip Graham Ryken highlight the significance of the topic in the faith of everyday believers. The Counterpoints series presents a comparison and critique of scholarly views on topics important to Christians that are both fair-minded and respectful of the biblical text. Each volume is a one-stop reference that allows readers to evaluate the different positions on a specific issue and form their own, educated opinion.

God called man in the book of Genesis, to stewardship and responsibility, but man failed God and himself and was in ruin and a state of hopelessness, but God rescued man by sending his son Jesus Christ, but man is still refusing to accept stewardship and responsibility. Nevertheless God is still calling man but not just man but women as well and whosoever will let them come. God wants to have dominium over the things that he created and not for man to be controlled by his creation.

Evolutionary Creation

Evolutionary Creation PDF Author: Denis O. Lamoureux

Book Description
In this provocative book, evolutionist and evangelical Christian Denis O. Lamoureux proposes an approach to origins that moves beyond the "evolution-versus-creation" debate. Arguing for an intimate relationship between the Book of God's Words and the Book of God's Works, he presents evolutionary creation--a position that asserts that the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit created the universe and life through an ordained and sustained evolutionary process. This view of origins affirms intelligent design and the belief that beauty, complexity, and functionality in nature reflect the mind of God. Lamoureux also challenges the popular Christian assumption that the Holy Spirit revealed scientific and historical facts in the opening chapters of the Bible. He contends that Scripture features an ancient understanding of origins that functions as a vessel to deliver inerrant and infallible messages of faith. Lamoureux shares his personal story and his struggle in coming to terms with evolution and Christianity. Like many, he lost his boyhood faith at university in classes on evolutionary biology. After graduation, he experienced a born-again conversion and then embraced belief in a literal six-day creation. Graduate school training at the doctoral level in both theology and biology led him to the conclusion that God created the world through evolution. Lamoureux closes with the two most important issues in the origins controversy--the pastoral and pedagogical implications. How should churches approach this volatile topic? And what should Christians teach their children about origins?

Book Description
A GODLY MANS GUIDE TO COVERING THE WOMAN OF GOD FROM A W.O.W.W.W.W WOMANS PERSPECTIVE In view of what has been established in my Trilogy for both males and females, leaders and laymen, this journey continues as a spin-off from: God, Why Didnt He Cover Me? As I have been criticized about the wording of the current book title, I need you to roll with me on this one. As this book has become a personal conversation with my race of people, reader discretion is advised. If it had been intended for Esaus descendents, I would have asked: Hey Adam, Where Art Thou? But since God has expanded my ability to communicate an exclusive message, this book has been deliberately downloaded for the Tribe of Judah. In translating the artistic nature of Heaven onto the earth, I need you to comprehend the words that are coming out of the Fathers mouth. Disclaimer: Just as this intriguing component continues to offer a unique smorgasbord of legitimate inquiries that may not fit the typical readers practical perspective, the project is intentionally informal with jargon-laden language that may not be acceptable by church folks and academic audiences. So if you are the traditional, super-spiritual Christian thats speaking in super-sonic tongues, this book will likely press your religious buttons. Even as the progressive theology may go beyond the capacity of your traditional beliefs, your personal opinions are no indication that God has stopped speaking (see Mt. 4:4). So in viewing the world with an inquisitive eye that may not fit the general patterns, I trust that you will notice that this book treads on prophetic territory. Now that I have pre-warned you of the inevitable, I invite you to explore a very rare assessment of the first and last Adam. Especially rewarding for the reader who values the fact that Adam was the figure of HIM who was to come, my question is: Could it possibly be that Adam was engaged in covering his bride and not preoccupied with hiding his sin? In my opinion, because Eve was the weaker vessel, Adam took the fall and willfully gave up his immortality, in order to become her covering. Why? So that there would be no record on Earth suggesting that the world was in sin because of her transgression. For as by one mans disobedience many were made sinners (Rom. 5:19a). Why Adam would demonstrate perfect love and give up immortality for the love of a woman is really the focus of my investigation. Why Jesus would give up immortality and leave the Father to die on an old rugged cross is a large part of the conclusion. Evidently, when God looks at us, He sees Jesus, but when He looked at Eve, He saw Adam. All over the world, Jesus was the Lamb, but Adam, you da man because you took a stand. Brace yourself, as this provocative revelation may likely augment your investment. In my southern colloquial and best Ebonics, allow me to say it like Im feeling it, Hey Adam, where you at? Im gonna need you to take a stand, and be da man! Come on yall, lets get back to Eden!
