Book Description
"Abuja, Nigeria's Federal Capital Territory (FCT), is a'rainbow' community that is continually evolving. In like manner, the story of the territory unfolds with the release of every body of literature on its history and development over the years. The Story of Abuja; Nigeria's New Capital, written by Dr. L.I. Ofoegbu, is a rich addition to previous and current efforts to create better understanding of the raison d'etre of a politically and culturally neutral and unifying capital that belongs to all Nigerians. The book is a product of painstaking research undertaken by an insider who is familiar with the history of the FCT as well as the interplay of policies, politics and activities that culminated in Abuja Capital City and its satellite communities as we know them today." - General Dr. Yakubu Gowon, GCFR, Former Head of State of Nigeria.

Book Description
This paper reviews the 2004 Semiannual IMF Staff Report Under Intensified Surveillance for Nigeria. Overall economic performance in the first half of 2004 was commendable. The implementation of sound macroeconomic policies, underpinned by a conservative reference oil price and savings of the oil revenue windfall, has helped stabilize the economy. Fiscal prudence along with a tight monetary policy has contributed to a buildup of international reserves. Although the outlook for the remainder of 2004 is promising, the government faces the immediate challenge of persuading all states to continue to save the oil revenue windfall.
