Kyle Meyer: Interwoven

Kyle Meyer: Interwoven PDF Author:
Publisher:
ISBN: 9781942185680
Category : Photography
Languages : en
Pages : 192

Book Description
Swazi craft meets digital photography in Kyle Meyer's astounding woven photos of a silenced LGBTQ community Kyle Meyer (born 1985) has worked between eSwatini (formerly Swaziland) and New York City since 2009, creating richly tactile artworks as conceptually complex as they are visually lush. In this debut monograph, Meyer's portraits from his Interwoven series fuse digital photography with traditional Swazi crafts, giving voice to silenced members of the LGBTQ community. Tension between the necessity of the individuals to hide their queerness for basic survival and their desire to express themselves openly inform both the subject and the means of fabricating Meyer's unique works. Each piece from the Interwoven series is labor-intensive, taking days or sometimes weeks to complete. Meyer often photographs his subjects wearing a traditional headwrap made from a vibrantly colored textile. He then produces a print of the portrait and shreds it, together with the fabric from the headwrap, weaving the strips into patterned three-dimensional works. The final portrait presents each person's individuality while using the fabric as a screen to protect their identity.

The Story

The Story PDF Author: David Fincher
Publisher: Blue Water Pub
ISBN: 9780979616006
Category : Self-Help
Languages : en
Pages : 160

Book Description
The Story, An Interwoven Gospel is the complete story of the life of Jesus Christ as written by Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John. The format, however, is truly unique in several ways. The contents are 100 percent scripture, with no author commentaries or storytelling. On the back cover, Mr. Fincher makes it clear that he has only woven the scriptures together, and that God is the author. The Story is chronologically ordered beginning with the birth of Jesus and ending with His ascension to Heaven. The most unique feature is the text itself. A different color is used for the writings of each of the four Gospels, and then woven together to form a complete, smooth-flowing story. The reader is easily able to identify the contributions and perspectives of each writer. Parallel and harmony Gospels provide an excellent side-by-side comparison, but they are not in story form. The Story, An Interwoven Gospel is a wonderful, easy, and enjoyable way to learn about, study, and/or teach the life of Jesus Christ.
