Book Description
Excerpt from Wave-Length Measurements in the Arc and Spark Spectra of Zirconium The majority of the wave lengths of Table 1 represent the means of from 3 to 11 determinations. The majority of those of Table 2 are based on 2 to 4 determinations. Lines of impurities in the zirconium have been omitted in all cases where their chemical origins have been established with certainty. Although the samples of metallic zir conium represented chemical purity approximating or surpassing 99 per cent, yet all contained as impurities the elements Fe, Ti, and Cr, and in two of them were detected traces of Al, Mn, and Si. Of course, the prominent lines of the recently discovered hafnium were also present, and with a few exceptions these, too, so far as their identity has been established, have been omitted from the following wave-length lists. The comparison of the Zr wave lengths with the infra-red Hf spectrum is based on recent unpublished observations by Meggers at the Bureau of Standards. Nuclear Structure Physics

Nuclear Structure Physics PDF Author: Amritanshu Shukla
Publisher: CRC Press
ISBN: 1000172686
Category : Science
Languages : en
Pages : 417

Book Description
Nuclear structure Physics connects to some of our fundamental questions about the creation of universe and its basic constituents. At the same time, precise knowledge on the subject has lead to develop many important tools of human kind such as proton therapy, radioactive dating etc. This book contains chapters on some of the crucial and trending research topics in nuclear structure, including the nuclei lying on the extremes of spin, isospin and mass. A better theoretical understanding of these topics is important beyond the confines of the nuclear structure community. Additionally, the book will showcase the applicability and success of the different nuclear effective interaction parameters near the drip line, where hints for level reordering have already been seen, and where one can test the isospin-dependence of the interaction. The book offers comprehensive coverage of the most essential topics, including: • Nuclear Structure of Nuclei at or Near Drip-Lines • Synthesis challenges and properties of Superheavy nuclei • Nuclear Structure and Nuclear models - Ab-initio calculations, cluster models, Shell-model/DSM, RMF, Skyrme • Shell Closure, Magicity and other novel features of nuclei at extremes • Structure of Toroidal, Bubble Nuclei, halo and other exotic nuclei These topics are not only very interesting from theoretical nuclear physics perspective but are also quite complimentary for ongoing nuclear physics experimental program worldwide. It is hoped that the book chapters written by experienced and well known researchers/experts will be helpful for the master students, graduate students and researchers and serve as a standard & uptodate research reference book on the topics covered.

Deception Point

Deception Point PDF Author: Dan Brown

Book Description
From the #1 New York Times bestselling author of The Da Vinci Code, Angels & Demons, and Inferno and the “master of smart thrills” (People) comes a “rocket-fast thriller” (Vince Flynn) about an astonishing NASA discovery that unravels a deadly conspiracy that leads all the way to the White House. When a NASA satellite spots evidence of an astoundingly rare object buried deep in the Arctic ice, the floundering space agency proclaims a much-needed victory—one that could have profound implications for US space policy and the impending presidential election. With his re-election hanging in the balance, the President sends White House Intelligence analyst Rachel Sexton to the Milne Ice Shelf to verify the authenticity of the find. Accompanied by a team of experts, including the charismatic academic Michael Tolland, Rachel uncovers the unthinkable: evidence of scientific trickery. Before she can contact the President, she and Michael are attacked by a deadly team of assassins controlled by a mysterious power broker who will stop at nothing to hide the truth. Fleeing for their lives in an environment as desolate as it is lethal, their only hope for survival is to find out who is behind this masterful ploy. The truth, they will learn, is the most shocking deception of all in this “taut, fast-paced, barn-burner of a book” (St. Petersburg Times).

The Art of Hardware Architecture

The Art of Hardware Architecture PDF Author: Mohit Arora
Publisher: Springer Science & Business Media
ISBN: 1461403979
Category : Technology & Engineering
Languages : en
Pages : 235

Book Description
This book highlights the complex issues, tasks and skills that must be mastered by an IP designer, in order to design an optimized and robust digital circuit to solve a problem. The techniques and methodologies described can serve as a bridge between specifications that are known to the designer and RTL code that is final outcome, reducing significantly the time it takes to convert initial ideas and concepts into right-first-time silicon. Coverage focuses on real problems rather than theoretical concepts, with an emphasis on design techniques across various aspects of chip-design.
