The paintings which adorn the lower walls of the chapel at Eton College are arguably the most important surviving late-medieval murals in Northern Europe. Documented as having been painted between 1479 and 1487, they originally comprised some thirty-two scenes ranged in two registers on the chapel's north and south walls, recounting the miracles of the Virgin.
