Working Together

Working Together PDF Author: Matthew Carmona
Publisher: Thomas Telford
ISBN: 9780727730213
Category : Political Science
Languages : en
Pages : 88

Book Description
Planners and housing providers have to contend with very different constraints on their activities - inevitably leading to a certain amount of disagreement and tension. It is not always easy to reconcile the demands of local public opinion and government policy on the one hand with financial demands on the other. Working Together endeavours to help ease these tensions. It examines the working relationships between housing providers (private housebuilders, registered social landlords (RSLs) and local authority housing departments) and planners. Based on research conducted by the Bartlett School of Planning, the guide identifies and explains the motivations and constraints of the different groups involved in providing housing. The aim of this publication is to help all parties meet their own objectives in a mutually supportive and positive manner and to promote sharing of ideas across organisations. This is achieved through the assembly of twelve in-depth good practice examples, which have identified five routes to better practice. The guide offers practical solutions to overcoming the stresses inherent in housebuilding. More positive working relationships will deliver more efficient and effective development and planning processes as well as creating better quality housing. Working Together is supported jointly by The Royal Town Planning Institute, The Housing Corporation, House Builders Federation, National Housing Federation and Department for Transport, Local Government and the Regions. It is their belief that by adopting the principles outlined in Working Together, benefits will accrue not only to housing consumers, but also to all the parties involved in housing development.

Shakespeare and Complexity Theory

Shakespeare and Complexity Theory PDF Author: Claire Hansen
Publisher: Routledge
ISBN: 1351967428
Category : Literary Criticism
Languages : en
Pages : 369

Book Description
In this new monograph, Claire Hansen demonstrates how Shakespeare can be understood as a complex system, and how complexity theory can provide compelling and original readings of Shakespeare’s plays. The book utilises complexity theory to illuminate early modern theatrical practice, Shakespeare pedagogy, and the phenomenon of the Shakespeare ‘myth’. The monograph re-evaluates Shakespeare, his plays, early modern theatre, and modern classrooms as complex systems, illustrating how the lens of complexity offers an enlightening new perspective on diverse areas of Shakespeare scholarship. The book’s interdisciplinary approach enriches our understanding of Shakespeare and lays the foundation for complexity theory in Shakespeare studies and the humanities more broadly.

Delivering New Homes

Delivering New Homes PDF Author: Matthew Carmona
Publisher: Psychology Press
ISBN: 9780415279253
Category : Architecture
Languages : en
Pages : 356

Book Description
This book examines the processes and relationships that underpin the delivery of new homes across the United Kingdom, focussing primarily on the land use planning system in England, the way that housing providers engage with that system, and how the processes of engagement are changing or might change in the future. Planning, market and social house building - the three key processes - are first dissected and explored individually, then brought together to study the key areas of interaction between planning and the providers of social and market housing by way of the range of tensions that have consistently dogged those interactions. Extensive illustrative case study material provides a platform to the consideration of developing more integrated, realistic and proactive approaches to planning. Proposing evolutionary, and sometimes radical proposals for change, Delivering New Homes makes a bold contribution to finding a better way of delivering the new homes that the nation increasingly needs.

Point of View

Point of View PDF Author: June Kelley Pierce
Publisher: iUniverse
ISBN: 1663260494
Category : Fiction
Languages : en
Pages : 128

Book Description
The point of view from both authors tells you how life can take a turn for better or worse quite unexpectedly. The friend or lover you thought would be there for you can suddenly turn on you; the quiet boy you were somewhat enamored with in high school does not turn out to be who you thought he was. In this myriad of short stories, it is a balanced mix of expectations, and love does not fulfi ll your expectations either. Then, there is the Warrior who turns the tables, a complete 360, and we fi nd out who that person really is in the end. The stories are wrapped in their own emotional gauze where we begin to see through them but are surprised at how they unravel. Take the rising rock star for whom life has already become mundane as we watch him drown his boredom in drugs and alcohol. We feel optimistically enamored by what we deem a success story. We get to look deeper into the nitty gritty life of how fame and almost fortune has become engrained in the daily routine. The rise and fall of emotions are captivating as you turn each page.
