L'objectif de cette ouvrage est d'initier une reflexion sur le vieillissement des materiaux composites utilises en renforcement des structures du Genie Civil. En effet la meconnaissance de la durabilite des materiaux composites est un frein a leur utilisation. Dans le present ouvrage, nous avons dans un premier temps etudie l'influence des conditions de mise en oeuvre sur les proprietes initiales du composite. Dans la deuxieme partie, nous avons selectionne des cycles de vieillissement refletant les conditions reelles dans lesquelles travaille le materiau composite en reparation et/ou renforcement des structures. En parallele, nous avons lance des essais de vieillissement naturel.La finalite de ce travail de these consiste a tester des methodes de vieillissement representatives des conditions reelles en genie civil et a developper des essais de caracterisation precis afin de pouvoir determiner des indicateurs de durabilite fiables. Les resultats enregistres demontrent que selon le milieu de vieillissement, la nature de la matrice et les conditions de mise en oeuvre, les proprietes des composites et evoluent differemment au cours du temps.

Using plant material as raw materials for construction is a relatively recent and original topic of research. This book presents an overview of the current knowledge on the material properties and environmental impact of construction materials made from plant particles, which are renewable, recyclable and easily available. It focuses on particles and as well on fibers issued from hemp plant, as well as discussing hemp concretes. Laurent Arnaud is a Bridges, Waters and Forestry Engineer (Ingénieur des Ponts, Eaux et Forêts) and researcher at Joseph Fourier University in Grenoble, France.
