Use of Short Flat Vanes for Producing Efficient Wide-angle Two-dimensional Subsonic Diffusers
Author: Stanford University. Thermosciences Division. Thermosciences Division
Publisher:
ISBN:
Category : Diffusers
Languages : en
Pages : 166
Book Description
An investigation of the use of flat vanes in two-dimensional subsonic diffusers was made. Using optimum designs of vane installations, high pressure recoveries and steady flows were obtained for diffuser-wall divergence angles up to 42 degrees. Criteria for optimum configurations were developed which indicated that the vanes should be symmetrically arranged in the vicinity of the diffuser throat, that the vane-passage divergence angle should be approximately 7.0 degrees, and that the vanes should have a certain predictable length dependent upon the diffuser geometry.

Some Effects of Vanes and of Turbulence in Two-dimensional Wide-angle Subsonic Diffusers
Author: Carl A. Moore
Publisher:
ISBN:
Category : Blades
Languages : en
Pages : 139
Book Description
Test on two aspects of the behavior of wide-angle, plane-walled, two-dimensional diffusers with essentially incompressible flow have been conducted in the Mechanical Engineering Laboratory at Stanford University. First, a thorough study of the flow mechanism has been made using dye injection in a water table. The four regimes of flow found are delineated on graphs in terms of the three important parameters. Test data from a large water-table unit and a small water-table unit are given. Second, data are presented which demonstrate means for producing efficient diffusers for total included angles up to at least 45 degrees by use of simple, short, flat vanes.
