Usability Evaluation of Modeling Languages

Usability Evaluation of Modeling Languages PDF Author: Christian Schalles
Publisher: Springer Science & Business Media
ISBN: 3658000511
Category : Business & Economics
Languages : en
Pages : 186

Book Description
The usability of graphical modeling languages has not been explicitly considered in past research. Most usability evaluation surveys are mainly focusing on applications, websites, software and technical products. Usability has not been focused on within the development of current graphical languages for conceptual modeling. Consequently, the impact of graphical modeling languages on users as well as the output resulting from their application is not clear. Dr. Christian Schalles focuses on an empirical usability evaluation of graphical modeling languages in business process and software modeling.

Simulation-Based Usability Evaluation of Spoken and Multimodal Dialogue Systems

Simulation-Based Usability Evaluation of Spoken and Multimodal Dialogue Systems PDF Author: Stefan Hillmann
Publisher: Springer
ISBN: 3319625187
Category : Technology & Engineering
Languages : en
Pages : 262

Book Description
This book describes an extension of the user behaviour simulation (UBS) of an existing tool for automatic usability evaluation (AUE). This extension is based upon a user study with a smart home system. It uses technical-sociological methods for the execution of the study and the analysis of the collected data. A comparison of the resulting UBS with former UBSs, as well as the empirical data, shows that the new simulation approach outperforms the former simulation. The improvement affects the prediction of dialogue metrics that are related to dialogue efficiency and dialogue effectiveness. Furthermore, the book describes a parameter-based data model, as well as a related framework. Both are used to uniformly describe multimodal human-computer interactions and to provide such descriptions for usability evaluations. Finally, the book proposes a new two-stage method for the evaluation of UBSs. The method is based on the computation of a distance measures between two dialogue corpora and the pair-wise comparison of distances among several dialogue corpora.

Advances in Internet, Data and Web Technologies

Advances in Internet, Data and Web Technologies PDF Author: Leonard Barolli
Publisher: Springer Nature
ISBN: 3030397467
Category : Computers
Languages : en
Pages : 598

Book Description
This book presents original contributions on the theories and practices of emerging Internet, data and web technologies and their applicability in businesses, engineering and academia. The Internet has become the most proliferative platform for emerging large-scale computing paradigms. Among them, data and web technologies are two most prominent paradigms, and manifest in a variety of forms such as data centers, cloud computing, mobile cloud, mobile web services and so on. Together, these technologies form a digital ecosystem based on the data cycle, from capturing to processing, analysis and visualization. The investigation of various research and development issues in this digital ecosystem is made all the more important by the ever-increasing needs of real-life applications, which involve storing and processing large amounts of data. As a key feature, the book addresses advances in the life-cycle exploitation of data generated from the digital ecosystem, and data technologies that create value for businesses, moving toward a collective intelligence approach. Given its scope, the book offers a valuable reference guide for researchers, software developers, practitioners and students interested in the field of data and web technologies.
