These hearings also dealt with the need to maintain a free press as guaranteed by the first amendment to our Constitution, prerogatives of the legisla tive branch in Obtaining information from the executive in order to fulfill our constitutional responsibilities, and the increasing dangers of erosion of public confidence in government because of restrictions by the executive on the free ow Of information.
