Frontiers in Fungal Ecology, Diversity and Metabolites PDF Author: K. R. Sridhar
Publisher: I. K. International Pvt Ltd
ISBN: 8189866915
Category : Biodiversity
Languages : en
Pages : 350

Book Description
Mycology is a frontier area of research in life sciences. Fungi represent one of the three major evolutionary segments along with plants and animals. Fungal multidimensional features with basic and applied value projected their potential beyond routine systematics, diversity and environmental studies. In view of tremendous developments in the field of Mycology, the present treatise emphasizes various aspects of contemporary issues in mycology. It comprises 22 chapters with emphasis on the fungal ecology, diversity and metabolites. The topics treated include aquatic ecology, diversity and phylogeny, mutualism and interactions, potential metabolites, pathology and toxins, fungal infections and prevention, cell permeabilization and advances in monocarboxylate transporters in yeasts with an emphasis on cancer therapy. This volume is of special interest to mycologists as a valuable source of information on the frontier areas of mycology dealing with diversity, ecological amplitudes, methods of assessment, novel metabolites and bioprospecting avenues

Applying Machine Learning Techniques to Bioinformatics: Few-Shot and Zero-Shot Methods

Applying Machine Learning Techniques to Bioinformatics: Few-Shot and Zero-Shot Methods PDF Author: Lilhore, Umesh Kumar
Publisher: IGI Global
ISBN:
Category : Computers
Languages : en
Pages : 418

Book Description
Why are cutting-edge data science techniques such as bioinformatics, few-shot learning, and zero-shot learning underutilized in the world of biological sciences?. In a rapidly advancing field, the failure to harness the full potential of these disciplines limits scientists’ ability to unlock critical insights into biological systems, personalized medicine, and biomarker identification. This untapped potential hinders progress and limits our capacity to tackle complex biological challenges. The solution to this issue lies within the pages of Applying Machine Learning Techniques to Bioinformatics. This book serves as a powerful resource, offering a comprehensive analysis of how these emerging disciplines can be effectively applied to the realm of biological research. By addressing these challenges and providing in-depth case studies and practical implementations, the book equips researchers, scientists, and curious minds with the knowledge and techniques needed to navigate the ever-changing landscape of bioinformatics and machine learning within the biological sciences.

New advances in the biology and pathogenesis of free-living amoebae

New advances in the biology and pathogenesis of free-living amoebae PDF Author: Isabel Marcelino
Publisher: Frontiers Media SA
ISBN: 2832548865
Category : Science
Languages : en
Pages : 195

Book Description
Free-living amoebae (FLA) are fascinating unicellular eukaryotes, living freely in soil and freshwater habitats and feeding mainly on bacteria. Under stressful conditions, they can transform from a motile, metabolically active, and replicative trophozoite to a “dormant” and resistant cyst. Some FLA can be pathogenic to humans such as Acanthamoeba, Balamuthia, Naegleria, and Sappinia causing rare but fatal infection in humans. FLA are also known to be carriers of pathogenic microorganisms, but few information is currently available on the natural bacteria of FLA and how various bacteria avoid phagocytosis/predation by these specific types of amoebae. There is an imperious need to draw more attention to this group of microorganisms and for this we seek submissions that address advancements in the biology and pathogenesis of FLAs.
