Book Description
“Insightful, humorous, practical, this book will not only help you understand the story you’re telling yourself but also reveal a new story that allows you to love better.”— Russell Moore, director of the Public Theology Project at Christianity Today In this powerful, transformational guide, the author of the bestselling book The Road Back to You breaks new ground with the Enneagram—the ancient personality typing system—by revealing how each of us inhabits a broken story that runs counter to the Larger Story of divine grace and who we were created to be. Drawing on his training as a psychotherapist and his own personal experience, Ian Cron explains how you can: rewrite the self-sabotaging stories you tell yourself about who you are, free yourself from the tyranny of unconscious childhood messages, and overcome the self-defeating patterns of behavior that prevent you from becoming your authentic self. With this powerful tool, Cron shows us how each type can shed their broken stories and harness their unique power within to become who we are truly meant to be, shedding the unhappiness we accumulate by trying to live out of the wrong story. Filled with examples from people whose lives have been transformed for the better, Cron maps out a guide for using Enneagram wisdom to reauthor your life and experience deep inner transformation, healing, and happiness. Rewrite the story of you and find the freedom in becoming your true self!

Understanding His Story
Author: Steven E. Sprague
Publisher: Christian Faith Publishing, Inc.
ISBN:
Category : Religion
Languages : en
Pages : 286
Book Description
Our Father tells us that if we want to know about the end-times with understanding, then ask Him. He will inundate every person who asks with this knowledge explaining His truths as recorded in His Word. All the events leading up to the end of this dispensation of time, this second world age in which humankind has inhabited the earth, have been presented by our Father in His written letter to us--the Bible. This book explains the who, what, where, when, and why of these events as written straight from the Bible in witness to the world events of today. When necessary, copies of the original manuscripts of the earliest Hebrew and Greek languages in which the Bible was first written are utilized, preserving God's truths apart from any of man's influencing academia, religions, denominations, doctrines, tenants, traditions, interpretations, philosophies, theologies, commentaries, or fables--just the Bible. The end of this age centers on two tribulations, Satan's originating first, followed by Christ's Second Advent, His return. To fully understand them and their purpose, one must be cognizant of the whole story fundamental to understanding the mysteries of God's master plan established from the beginning, from the very first earth and heaven age. Sadly, most people are unlearned, therefore oblivious to God's realities as we go about our daily lives today. Knowledge of these events is brought forth in biblical teachings. This book explains these teachings and will provide a comprehensive understanding of God's whole story. Besides the subjects as indexed, you will learn of many other things, such as the simplicity in purpose of God's plan of salvation through His Son, Jesus Christ; the documenting of this generation as the last; an understanding in witness to the four dynasties bringing about the establishment of globalism today--the one-world order--and how these and many other things work together in culminating the end to this earth age and more. It is "His Story," and as His children, it is imperative that we understand our Father's final plea as we approach the end to this dispensation of time. This is "Humanity's Eleventh Hour."

Understanding the Bible as a Scripture in History, Culture, and Religion
Author: James W. Watts
Publisher: John Wiley & Sons
ISBN: 1119730376
Category : Religion
Languages : en
Pages : 388
Book Description
UNDERSTANDING THE BIBLE AS A SCRIPTURE IN HISTORY, CULTURE, AND RELIGION The Bible is a popular subject of study and research, yet biblical studies gives little attention to the reason for its popularity: its religious role as a scripture. Understanding the Bible as a Scripture in History, Culture, and Religion integrates the history of the religious interpretation and ritual uses of biblical books into a survey of their rhetoric, composition, and theology in their ancient contexts. Emphasizing insights from comparative studies of different religious scriptures, it combines discussion of the Bible’s origins with its cultural history into a coherent understanding of its past and present function as a scripture. A prominent expert on biblical rhetoric and the ritualization of books, James W. Watts describes how Jews and Christians ritualize the Bible by interpreting it, by expressing it in recitations, music, art, and film, and by venerating the physical scroll and book. The first two sections of the book are organized around the Torah and the Gospels—which have been the focus of Jewish and Christian ritualization of scriptures from ancient to modern times—and treat the history of other biblical books in relation to these two central blocks of the Hebrew Bible and New Testament. In addition to analyzing the semantic contents of all the Bible’s books as persuasive rhetoric, Watts describes their ritualization in the iconic and expressive dimensions in the centuries since they began to function as a scripture, as well as in their origins in ancient Judaism and Christianity. The third section on the cultural history and scriptural function of modern bibles concludes by discussing their influence today and the controversies they have fueled about history, science, race, and gender. Innovative and insightful, Understanding the Bible as a Scripture in History, Culture, and Religion is a groundbreaking introduction to the study of the Bible as a scripture, and an ideal textbook for courses in biblical studies and comparative scripture studies.

The Story Behind Words of the Bible Explained
Author: Pastor Garrick Bridgeforth Sr
Publisher: Xlibris Corporation
ISBN: 1479770442
Category : Religion
Languages : en
Pages : 83
Book Description
I was born in Brooklyn, New York. A child with no father. He passed away when I was one year old, but I went on with life. My mother has six kids. Yes, I was brought up in a group home till I was twelve, moved to Brooklyn to live with my biological mother, and have been with her ever since. Life was hard as a teenager. There were many drugs in my life, anger and resentment to all for the loss of my father, and the homelessness I had to endure. But God, amen, he called me to ministry service at the age of fourteen. I was brought up in the church but backslid for I wanted to live a life with women and drugs, so my nickname was Mr. Sex, Drugs, and Rock and Roll. This life turned me into a bad person with a good heart. I was strung out on crack cocaine and alcohol for three years; but God stepped in, took me out of the abandoned buildings I was sleeping in, and now gave me more than I ever had, because God saw my heart and saved me in 1995 at the Helping Hands Ministry under Pastor Randolph Ferdinand. There I learned how to pray in the spirit, how to believe in God to remove my hurt. There I heard God teach me his laws, and he told me what he wanted me to do. So I grew in the Lord with wisdom, finished the program, obtained a job, worked hard, got married, and became a pastor of the House of Prayer under Apostle Gladis Dugue. There I was blessed by God with a ministry, and I became a Sunday school teacher. I have my associates degree in management and my bachelors degree in science in religion, and I prayed, and God showed me the words in the Bible. He said, You must teach on every word in the Bible before you leave this earth. I began reading the words, and the Holy Spirit guided me into understanding the meaning of the words in the Bible for everyday life. None of the meanings are from the dictionaryall from God to me to you. I would like to thank my wife, Noreen Bridgeforth, who inspired me, my son; Apostle Dugue; Apostle Tyrone Monroe; and House of Prayer, an anointed new beginning where I teach Sunday school. I would like to thank my grandfather Willie Bridgeforth Sr. and my father, Robert, and my mother, Marie Bridgeforth. Thank you to all my family and friends at Helping Hands Ministry and Pastor Randolph Ferdinand.

Police Violence: Understanding Its Basic History, Causal Origins, Health Consequences, and Prevention Strategies
Author: Benedict Emesowum
Publisher: Lulu.com
ISBN: 1365245934
Category : Science
Languages : en
Pages : 144
Book Description
Power corrupts, and absolute power will absolutely corrupt the police. The American Founders understood the importance of limiting governmentÕs power, thereby putting in place balances and checks to achieve it. The police have a lot of power: as you walk or drive, they can stop, detain, arrest, assault, vandalize, and even kill you with impunity. With the vast resources at the command of the police, itÕs easy to see how even a humble person can become intoxicated with the powers granted the police. Police Violence outlines the origins of the police, and how those origins, certain behaviors, and other factors explain the deaths of people like Eric Garner, Sandra Bland, Samuel Dubose, Walter Scott and many others. The U.S. media has extensively reported police violence, but analysts have offered little information on why it happens or ideas for prevention. This groundbreaking book takes you on an honest intellectual public health journey while staying true to the realities of the issue for the everyday reader.
