Book Description
In this book, Pulitzer Prize–winning poet C. K. Williams sets aside the mass of biography and literary criticism that has accumulated around Walt Whitman and attempts to go back to Leaves of Grass as he first encountered it—to explore why Whitman's epic "continues to inspire and sometimes daunt" him. The result is a personal reassessment and appreciation of one master poet by another, as well as an unconventional and brilliant introduction to Whitman. Beautifully written and rich with insight, this is a book that refreshes our ability to see Whitman in all his power.

Book Description
This insightful biography takes a balanced and thoughtful look at the creative and enigmatic man who has had a greater influence on American culture than almost any other individual: Walt Disney. Walt Disney has been dissected, criticized, and lauded in numerous biographies, most of which try to penetrate the psychology of the man and his motives. Walt Disney: A Biography takes a cultural approach, looking at Disney as both a product of his culture and a cultural innovator who influenced entertainment, education, leisure, and even history. Drawing on many original sources, Walt Disney provides an overview of this genius's remarkable life and family. At the same time, the book places Disney in the context of his times as a way of exploring the roots of and inspiration for his creativity. Because Walt Disney's creations and ideas still affect our movies, play activities, vacation choices, and even our dreams and imagination, his influence is as important today as it was when he was alive, and this thoroughly engaging book shows why.

Book Description
Carl Barks's greatest creation: The miserly, excessively wealthy Scrooge McDuck, whose giant money bin, lucky dime, and constant wrangles with his nemeses the Beagle Boys are well-known to and beloved by young and old. This volume starts off with "Only a Poor Old Man," the defining Scrooge yarn (in fact his first big starring story) in which Scrooge's plan to hide his money in a lake goes terribly wrong. Two other long-form classics in this volume include "Tralla La La" (also known as "The Bottlecap Story," in which Scrooge's intrusion has terrible consequences for a money-less Eden) and "Back to the Klondike" (Barks disciple Don Rosa's favorite story, a crucial addition to Scrooge's early history, and famous for a censored bar brawl that was restored in later editions). Also in this volume are the full-length "The Secret of Atlantis," and over two dozen more shorter stories and one-page gags.

Book Description
Uncle Walt [WALT MASON] written by Walt Mason. Published by George Matthew Adams in 1910. Registered in Canada in accordance with the copyright law. Entered at Stationers' Hall. Walt Mason's Prose Rhymes are read daily by approximately ten million readers. A newspaper service sells these rhymes to two hundred newspapers with a combined daily circulation of nearly five million, and assuming that five people read each newspaper—which is the number agreed upon by publicity experts—it may be called a fair guess to say that two out of every five readers of newspapers read Mr. Mason's poems. So the ten million daily readers is a reasonably accurate estimate. No other American verse-maker has such a daily audience. Walt Mason is, therefore, the Poet Laureate of the American Democracy. He is the voice of the people. Put to a vote, Walt would be elected to the Laureate's job, if he got a vote for each reader. And, generally speaking, men would vote as they read. The reason Walt Mason has such a large number of readers is because he says what the average man is thinking so that the average man can understand it.
