Découvert en 2002 et fouillé en 2003, le site de Luzancy, à quelques kilomètres au nord de la ville de La Ferté-sous-Jouarre, a livré d'importants vestiges du Néolithique ancien. Cinq maisons dites danubiennes y forment un hameau organisé. Le matériel mis au jour, en particulier les faunes qui sont parmi les mieux documentés de la région, permet de restituer des activités vraisemblablement liées au traitement des céréales et donnent des informations socio-économiques sur l’approvisionnement en matériaux (poteries, industrie en silex, anneaux en pierre, grès, coquillages...) ou la gestion des troupeaux. Cette étude complète notre connaissance de la culture et de la chronologie de la période d'une partie de la vallée de la Marne assez peu documentée jusque-là. Faut-il préciser que la Marne est, au Néolithique, l’un des axes de pénétration des colons danubiens dans le Bassin parisien ? Un jalon important dans l'histoire du Néolithique ancien dans le Bassin parisien.

The Celtic languages and groups called Keltoi (i.e. ‘Celts’) emerge into our written records at the pre-Roman Iron Age. The impetus for this book is to explore from the perspectives of three disciplines—archaeology, genetics, and linguistics—the background in later European prehistory to these developments. There is a traditional scenario, according to which, Celtic speech and the associated group identity came in to being during the Early Iron Age in the north Alpine zone and then rapidly spread across central and western Europe. This idea of ‘Celtogenesis’ remains deeply entrenched in scholarly and popular thought. But it has become increasingly difficult to reconcile with recent discoveries pointing towards origins in the deeper past. It should no longer be taken for granted that Atlantic Europe during the 2nd and 3rd millennia BC were pre-Celtic or even pre-Indo-European.
