Essays in Economic Dynamics

Essays in Economic Dynamics PDF Author: Akio Matsumoto
Publisher: Springer
ISBN: 981101521X
Category : Business & Economics
Languages : en
Pages : 257

Book Description
This book reflects the state of the art in nonlinear economic dynamics, providing a broad overview of dynamic economic models at different levels. The wide variety of approaches ranges from theoretical and simulation analysis to methodological study. In particular, it examines the local and global asymptotical behavior of both macro- and micro- level mathematical models, theoretically as well as using simulation. It also focuses on systems with one or more time delays for which new methodology has to be developed to investigate their asymptotic properties. The book offers a comprehensive summary of the existing methodology with extensions to the more complex model variants, since considerations on bounded rationality of complex economic behavior provide the foundation underlying choice-theoretic and policy-oriented studies of macro behavior, which impact the real macro economy. It includes 13 chapters addressing traditional models such as monopoly, duopoly and oligopoly in microeconomics and Keynesian, Goodwinian, and Kaldor–Kaleckian models in macroeconomics. Each chapter presents new aspects of these traditional models that have never been seen before. This work renews the past wisdom and reveals tomorrow's knowledge.

Essays in Macrodynamic Economics

Essays in Macrodynamic Economics PDF Author: Kenneth K. Kurihara
Publisher: State University of New York Press
ISBN: 1438409826
Category : Business & Economics
Languages : en
Pages : 168

Book Description
Part 1 looks at the perspective and prospective transition from macrostatics to macrodynamics. Part 2 examines the analytical and operational problems of advanced economies in varying stages of their development and with changing institutional and technological complexes. It also discusses boldly such controversial and paradoxical issues as the dichotomy between the post-Keynesian and neo-classical approach, the clash between macroeconomic desiderata, the incongruity between internal and external equilibria, the contradiction between laissez-faire and the policy-orientated patterns of development, and the contrast between macro- and multisectoral models of growth. The possibility (and desirability) of adding, to both Keynes's General Theory and post-Keynesian dynamics, such new dimensions as are attuned to the pressing and mounting needs of our restless society is discussed in both Parts. The ideas put forward by Professor Kurihara are intended to stimulate further hypothesis-making in the perplexing yet intriguing field of economic development. The book should prove useful to serious (and curious) students of 'dynamic economics' and 'development planning' not only in advanced economies but also in developing countries.

Economic Theory, Dynamics and Markets

Economic Theory, Dynamics and Markets PDF Author: Takashi Negishi
Publisher: Springer Science & Business Media
ISBN: 9780792373063
Category : Business & Economics
Languages : en
Pages : 614

Book Description
Economic Theory, Dynamics, and Markets. The collection of essays in honor of Ryuzo Sato, written by his colleagues and students, covers the many fields of economic theory and policy to which he has contributed. The first section pays tribute to his contributions to mathematical economics and economic theory. Ryuzo Sato is known for his work in growth theory and technical progress, and the second section has a number of papers on macroeconomics and dynamics. The third section has a number of papers on financial markets and their functioning in Japan and the United States. The next section examines various aspects of the economics of firms and industry. Ryuzo Sato has been very involved in analyzing the economic and business relations between Japan and the United States, and the last section is devoted to comparative analysis of economic systems.

Nonlinear Dynamics in Economics, Finance and the Social Sciences

Nonlinear Dynamics in Economics, Finance and the Social Sciences PDF Author: Gian Italo Bischi
Publisher: Springer Science & Business Media
ISBN: 3642040233
Category : Business & Economics
Languages : en
Pages : 384

Book Description
Over the last two decades there has been a great deal of research into nonlinear dynamic models in economics, finance and the social sciences. This book contains twenty papers that range over very recent applications in these areas. Topics covered include structural change and economic growth, disequilibrium dynamics and economic policy as well as models with boundedly rational agents. The book illustrates some of the most recent research tools in this area and will be of interest to economists working in economic dynamics and to mathematicians interested in seeing ideas from nonlinear dynamics and complexity theory applied to the economic sciences.

Games and Dynamics in Economics

Games and Dynamics in Economics PDF Author: Ferenc Szidarovszky
Publisher: Springer Nature
ISBN: 9811536236
Category : Mathematics
Languages : en
Pages : 303

Book Description
This book focuses on the latest advances in nonlinear dynamic modeling in economics and finance, mainly—but not solely—based on the description of strategic interaction by using concepts and methods from dynamic and evolutionary game theory. The respective chapters cover a range of theoretical issues and examples concerning how the qualitative theory of dynamical systems is used to analyze the local and global bifurcations that characterize complex behaviors observed in social systems where heterogeneous and boundedly rational economic agents interact. Nonlinear dynamical systems, represented by difference and differential and functional equations, are extensively used to simulate the behavior of time-evolving economic systems, also in the presence of time lags, discontinuities, and hysteresis phenomena. In addition, some theoretical issues and particular applications are discussed, as well. The contributions gathered here offer an up-to-date review of the latest research in this rapidly developing research area.
