Where the judgment is not enlightened, nor the affections interested, the exercise, however solemnly, decently, and scrupulously conducted, becomes nothing more than a mere empty form, and, as such, utterly worthless in the sight of Him who "is a Spirit and seeketh that they who worship him should worship him in spirit and in truth."
