Structural Studies on Electron Deficient Tantalum and Tungsten Complexes Containing Multiple Metal-carbon Bonds
Hafnium and Tungsten Metal Carbon Multiple Bonds

Book Description
Ever since their discovery in 1981, Schrock-type alkylidynes have proven to be reactive species for metathesis and C-H activation. With the use of pincer ligands, increased nucleophilicity of the alkylidyne can be achieved. Herein, a "masked" trianionic pincer ligand, bis(4-methyl-2-(triphenylphosphinimine)phenyl)amine, was synthesized and metalated, as a significant step towards stable and nucleophilic group IV transition-metal alkylidyne complexes. The significant reactivity of a pre-catalyst tungsten(VI) alkylidyne is also discussed, along with its unique reactivity towards isocyanide reagents. X-ray diffraction analysis of the resulting species gives another example of the unusual reactivity of pincer supported alkylidynes.

Heteronuclear Metal-Metal Bonds
Author: R.D. Adams
Publisher: Elsevier
ISBN: 9780080423173
Category : Science
Languages : en
Pages : 458
Book Description
The number of organometallic compounds containing heteronuclear metal-metal bonds has grown tremendously in the last ten years. Also known as cluster compounds, these compounds have been found to exhibit a rich diversity of molecular structures and reactivities. Descriptions of the structures and transformations of the complexes are central features. Separate chapters have been prepared for compounds containing bonds between transition metals and the metals of the copper and zinc subgroups. Unlike COMC, this volume contains an entire chapter devoted to studies of heteronuclear metal compounds in catalysis.

Advances in Organometallic Chemistry
Author:
Publisher: Academic Press
ISBN: 0080580424
Category : Science
Languages : en
Pages : 337
Book Description
This widely-acclaimed serial contains authoritative reviews that address all aspects of organometallic chemistry, a field which has expanded enormously since the publication of Volume 1 in 1964. Almost all branches of chemistry and material science now interface with organometallic chemistry--the study of compounds containing carbon metal bonds. Organometallic compounds range from species which are so reactive that they only have a transient existence at ambienttemperatures to species which are thermally very stable. Organometallics are used extensively in the synthesis of useful compounds on both large and small scales. Industrial processes involving plastics, polymers, electronic materials, and pharmaceuticals all depend on advancements in organometallic chemistry. This book is an essential reference work for the academic and industrial chemist and will provide up-to-date material at the cutting edge of chemistry research. In basic research, organometallics have contributed inter alia to: Metal cluster chemistry Surface chemistry The stabilization of highly reactive species by metal coordination Chiral synthesis The formulation of multiple bonds between carbon and the other elements and between the elements themselves Metal organic compounds of calcium, strontium, and barium in chemical vapor deposition 17- and 19-electron organometallic complexes Halocarbonyl complexes of molybdenum and tungsten Substituent effects in metallacene chemistry
