Trois expériences à grande échelle ont été menées sur le site expérimentale SCERES. Le code de calcul multiphasique multicomposant SIMUSCOPP a par la suite été utilisé pour simuler la migration et le transport d’un mélange de TCE/PCE. Le traçage bisoluble mené sur SCERES a présenté des limites quant à son application sur site réel. Par ailleurs, la technique numérique utilisée dite de « déconvolution » a montré qu’il est possible de déterminer une distribution dans un plan vertical du polluant à partir des profils de concentrations dissoutes dans le cas d’une source monoconstituant (TCE) en milieu poreux homogène. La quantification de l’influence d’une couche peu perméable en surface du sol sur le transfert d’un mélange de TCE et de PCE a révélé que même en présence d’une zone d’eau capillaire suspendue, le flux de vapeurs vers l’atmosphère est important. De plus, en utilisant une approche numérique 1-D, il a été montré que l’erreur commise dans l’estimation du flux de vapeurs vers l’atmosphère par approche indirecte augmente lorsque la teneur en eau varie fortement en zone non saturée. Les simulations numériques effectuées ont montré que SIMUSCOPP surestime le transfert des vapeurs vers la phase aqueuse et ont présenté une faible sensibilité au mode d’injection utilisé. En présence d’hétérogénéités locales, la répartition de la zone source devient complexe et non uniforme. Par ailleurs, il s’est avéré qu’en présence d’une forte teneur en eau dans la zone non saturée, l’hypothèse d’équilibre instantané entre les phases gazeuse et aqueuse n’est pas valide. De plus, en comparant les concentrations d’équilibre en TCE et en PCE dissous, nous avons pu mettre en évidence le phénomène de non équilibre local à l’échelle macroscopique.
