Le diamant présente un grand nombre de propriétés très intéressantes, à la fois dans le domaine de l’électronique, de l’optique, mais aussi en électrochimie. Dopé au bore, c’est un semiconduc¬teur à grande énergie de bande interdite (≈5,5 eV) et il est utilisé en tant que matériau d’électrode en raison de sa forte inertie chimique et de son large domaine d’électroactivité. Cependant, son comportement électrochimique est complexe et fait actuellement l’objet d’une intense activité de recherche. Parmi les facteurs qui influent sur la réponse des électrodes de diamant dopé au bore, la nature des terminaisons de surface (principalement « hydrogénées » ou « oxygénées ») est au centre des préoccupations. Nous nous sommes donc attachés à analyser l’influence de traitements électrochimiques sur la réactivité et la chimie de surface du matériau, afin de mieux comprendre les phénomènes mis en jeu au cours des transferts de charge. L'évolution du comportement des électrodes a été suivie grâce à des mesures électrochimiques (I-V en présence de couples redox et C-V) et les modifications de la chimie superficielle ont été caractérisées par des analyses XPS et des mesures d’angle de contact.
