A description is given of a pilot-plant campaign lasting twenty-one months that aimed at assessing the use of continuous ion-exchange and weak-base resins for the recovery of uranium. The following are the main conclusions drawn from the work: (a) the continuous ion-exchange pilot plant is mechanically sound and will operate on unclarified feed solution, (b) the plant requires less than half the inventory of resin required by an equivalent fixed-bed plant, and (c) weak-base resins with scrubbing will give a product of greater purity than that produced by strong-base resins, and almost as good as that produced by solvents of equivalent chemical composition.
