Time Between

Time Between PDF Author: Chris Hillman
Publisher: Bmg Books
ISBN: 9781947026353
Category : Country musicians
Languages : en
Pages : 0

Book Description
"Chris Hillman is arguably the primary architect of what's come to be known as country rock. After playing the Southern California folk and bluegrass circuit, he joined David Crosby, Roger McGuinn, Gene Clark and Michael Clark as an original member of The Byrds. He went on to partner with Gram Parsons to launch The Flying Burrito Brothers, recording a handful of albums that have become touchstones of rock-influenced country. Hillman then embarked on a prolific recording career in various configurations: as a member of Stephen Stills' Manassas; as a member of Souther-Hillman-Furay with J.D. Souther and Richie Furay of Buffalo Springfield; as a solo artist; and in a trio with his fellow former Byrds Roger McGuinn and Gene Clark. In the 1980s, Hillman launched a successful mainstream country career when he formed The Desert Rose Band with Herb Pedersen and John Jorgenson, scoring eight Top 10 country hits. In the midst of his country success he was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. He has since released a number of solo albums with the most recent, Bidin' My Time, produced by Tom Petty. In Time Between, Hillman takes readers behind the curtain of his quintessentially Southern Californian musical journey."--Provided by publisher.

For the Love of Long Shots: A Memoir on Democracy

For the Love of Long Shots: A Memoir on Democracy PDF Author: Shawn Casey O'Brien
Publisher: Pumpkin Seed Publishing
ISBN: 097989347X
Category : Biography & Autobiography
Languages : en
Pages : 320

Book Description
What would happen if 40 million disabled citizens organized their vote and took power in America? Shawn Casey O'Brien's literary memoir For The Love Of Long Shots looks at the off-beat, humane possibilities as a rag tag group of disabled rebels lay the groundwork for just such a bloodless, democratic revolution. From motivating millions to register and vote, to ending voter suppression and wholeheartedly encouraging the electorate to "lie to the polls" and then simply vote their conscience, For The Love Of Long Shots takes an irreverent, if not realistic, look at what ails American democracy today and how best to save it-one disabled vote at a time.

The Age of Shakespeare

The Age of Shakespeare PDF Author: Frank Kermode
Publisher: Modern Library
ISBN: 0812974336
Category : History
Languages : en
Pages : 242

Book Description
In The Age of Shakespeare, Frank Kermode uses the history and culture of the Elizabethan era to enlighten us about William Shakespeare and his poetry and plays. Opening with the big picture of the religious and dynastic events that defined England in the age of the Tudors, Kermode takes the reader on a tour of Shakespeare’s England, vividly portraying London’s society, its early capitalism, its court, its bursting population, and its epidemics, as well as its arts—including, of course, its theater. Then Kermode focuses on Shakespeare himself and his career, all in the context of the time in which he lived. Kermode reads each play against the backdrop of its probable year of composition, providing new historical insights into Shakspeare’s characters, themes, and sources. The result is an important, lasting, and concise companion guide to the works of Shakespeare by one of our most eminent literary scholars.
