This is the first book-length study of the classicism of Tony Harrison, one of the most important contemporary poets in England and the world. The Labourers of Herakles, using a chorus of nine cement mixers, was performed on an excavated site intended for the new theatre of the European Cultural Centre of Delphi, Greece, on 23 August 1995.
