Book Description
A Psalter/Commentary combining in-depth study of Psalms 90–150 with 140 new songs. This volume, encompassing Psalms 90–150, is the final volume of the series. Volume one covered Psalms 1–41, and volume two incorporated Psalms 42–89. The intent of this series is not to produce technical volumes; rather, they are intended for use by church leaders, ministers, informed lay persons, and Bible teachers to obtain basic understanding of some of the concerns and issues found in a particular psalm, and go from there to an application of the psalm for present-day worship in song. For each psalm there is a translation, treatment of its structure and theology, and then two or more musical settings. This variety demonstrates several ways of bringing the Psalms into Christian worship. Most of the music in Timeless is intended for congregational singing. Timeless is an ecumenical and international project. While having its origin in the a cappella tradition of Churches of Christ, the book is based on the conviction that all Christian communions share the original hymnbook of the second temple and the church. The editor, therefore, has solicited commentaries, compositions, and lyrics from a broad range of Christian traditions.

Grace and Peace
Author: Thomas H. Olbricht
Publisher: Wipf and Stock Publishers
ISBN: 1532635486
Category : Biography & Autobiography
Languages : en
Pages : 225
Book Description
These essays are presented by the family, friends, and colleagues of David Worley of blessed memory. David Worley was an extraordinary man of many talents and interests. David was born and raised in Texas, and was educated at Abilene Christian and Yale. Upon receiving a PhD in New Testament, he and his growing family moved to Austin, Texas, where he lived until his untimely death by cancer. David's family owned a series of broadcasting stations. Over his lifetime he was interested in the media, venture capital investments, church life and music, and mission efforts in Russia, Africa, New Zealand, and elsewhere. He taught courses as an adjunct professor at various colleges and served as president of the Austin Graduate School of Theology and chairman of the board of the Institute of Theology and Christian Ministry, St. Petersburg, Russia. Even his close friends knew little of the magnitude of his activities. What was clear, however, was that he served one Lord--the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Nothing can be more challenging to a complacent life than these essays about the activities and commitments of David Worley.

Compassionate Intercultural Care Practices for Coping with Grief
Author: James Japheth Sudarshan Harrichand
Publisher: Langham Publishing
ISBN: 1839739991
Category : Religion
Languages : en
Pages : 222
Book Description
As humans, we all express our grief differently. Acknowledging this truth, Dr. James Harrichand examines Old Testament accounts of grief and mourning alongside the experiences of marginalized Guyanese and Vietnamese immigrant communities in Canada. He explores both biblical and pastoral theology through an anthropological lens, bridging the horizons of Scripture and culture in a hermeneutically and pastorally sensitive manner. Dr. Harrichand’s focus on prosaic prayers in the Old Testament fills a significant gap in the scholarship, but this book is also significant for its immense practicality, sensitizing readers to grief’s varied expressions and equipping culturally intelligent pastoral caregivers. He presents five compassionate intercultural care practices for coping with grief, grounding each in the living hope of the redemptive work of Jesus Christ, the one who bore our griefs and carries our sorrows.
