Thyroid disorders are amongst the most prevalent of medical conditions possibly after diabetes. It has been known for decades that overt hypothyroidism contributes to elevated serum cholesterol levels and cardiovascular risk and recent studies suggest this may also be true with subclinical hypothyroidism.
